Guest corb06 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Would´nt it be cool if they simulated another helicopter that has two crew members? And then implement multiplayer support for just that. Longbow 2 did it back in 1998. But then I only had dial up and alot of lagging as result. Today it would be much better. Simulate this helicopter too : http://www.lockon.ru/img/products/large/d5839c05d800fb7b36441a4f97902e02.jpg I want to be a gunner =) :smilewink:
NEODARK Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 not going to happen, its a limitation of the engine.. sry, but welcome to the forums :D
britgliderpilot Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 not going to happen, its a limitation of the engine.. sry, but welcome to the forums :D Actually, it's not. Dual-control code was written for v1.02, but junked along with the LAN code in the transition to Flaming Cliffs. I wrote a mod which maximised it's effectiveness and effectively allowed two-seaters in the form of the Su30 and alike. It's theoretically possible to do, it's just that it's a challenge to write the code again and you'd need a fast connection to deal with it. Oh, and there are no two-seaters in Lomac, Flaming Cliffs, OR Black Shark . . . . :P ED are working flat out on the Ka50, no more choppers are going to make it in. I'm not quite sure you understand the detail involved in the Ka50 at the moment - someone want to link to the cold start vid? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
GGTharos Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 The code that got junked was synchronous code which may have worked well enough on a LAN ... but since improvement demanded asynchronous code, I'm afraid dual control aircraft will not be so easy to implement cleanly, if at all. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

chris2802 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 So is the cold start procedure going to be as complex as the one on the TBS site? I love detail like that, really adds to the immersion. Chris
Weta43 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 There's a post somewhere (I think from a tester or someone at E.D.) saying parts of the actual (engine) startup procedure from LOBS were left out of that video. Cheers.
dodger42 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Required syncronous comms? Use hamachi! :) . . . Lockon Advanced Realism with Touch-Buddy
zaelu Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 This Synchronous - Asynchronous problem is making hard to do doual control aircrafts like trainers or aircrafts with two stations: pilot + Weapons/radar operator? I don't thik ED should be stoped by the problem of implementation of trainers. Tomcat, Apache, Ka-52 can fly with no problem with just one (good :) )pilot onboard. ED could make a switch function/button by which the pilot can transfer the aircraft control to the other guy or even drop the dual control feature completly and asign to the second crew just weapons/radar control functions. I hope ED will rethink their approach on this issue after BS. "Flying" online same game creates big content and prolongs life for many games out there. Being abble to control the same machine by more players distributing the workload between many individuals adds even more. A problem similar is affecting IL-2 game where the bombardier cannot be a different person than the pilot. ...but me and my team mates love to fly sometimes 2 or 3 in every bomber. Very imersive gameplay then. dynamocl Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 No doubt its been done before, even BF2 has is as well as OFP. The problem is, not at th emoment with the current engine in its state. The previous games were built groun dup with multiplayers ver vehicle. I don;t think this is the case for lockon. Perhaps in lockon MkII, whatever form that may take.

diveplane Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 maybe am mistaken but i thought the commanche project was canned by the us army?..... https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
zaelu Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Maybe it was canned but it will fit well with Ka-50 (or at least an Apache... or Cobra... pleeease :) ). Guest IguanaKing Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 As I have said a few times in the past, a Whiskey Cobra would RAWK!!!:punk: Oh...on behalf of our South African members...I also nominate the Rooivalk. http://www.army-technology.com/projects/rooivalk/rooivalk6.html :D

Guest IguanaKing Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 :megalol: LOL, BGP. You know...I kept telling them to use an "Easy Bake" for the on-board pastry oven, but it just wasn't impressive enough for their liking. :D
