Guest deeplodokus Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Hi :) Now that I'm starting to understand a bit better how to operate the radar and the s530 and magic missiles, I've given a try to the intercept instant mission. And wow, that was humiliating. Am I just really bad, or is it a tough mission?
Sverre Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 You remember to use your wingman right? that makes it alot easier.
Maico249th Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Missions are supposed to be hard. Keep at it for a week then report back here. Crawl, Walk, Run... I had similar experience with MiG-15 vs F-86. In the beginning I thought, "Are they serious?" Now I hardly get shot down by Sabre except for the occasional sucker punch.... Its air combat, it happens LOL
Guest deeplodokus Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 alright, thanks for the replies! unfortunately i can only play this weekend... :/
Guest deeplodokus Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) Hey, bumping this thread. So, I've made a lot of progress and I can shoot a few enemies relatively easily. Problem though is that I can hear my wingman telling me stuff, but my wingman doesn't seem to hear me: he never responds or acts accordingly. Am I supposed to change anything on my radio for him to hear me? Thanks. Edited January 21, 2016 by deeplodokus
spiddx Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) There are two radios in the Mirage: Main (UVHF) and Aux (UHF). You have to select the correct one before opening the Comms Menu. Keybinds for both radios i think are in the HOTAS category. In general you contact your flight on the Auxiliary and ATC on the main radio. jojo Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 To destroy 4 BVR fighters with only 4 Super 530 is not easy task. MiG 23 can engage you head on with its R-24R before Magic range, and if you miss them MiG 29 jump on you with R-27R. So IMHO it's not trivial mission. Mirage fanatic ! TomCatMucDe Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I found that the Wingmen dont react to Attack My Target comm, so I simply ask them to engage bandits. I then engage the first MiG23 and destroy it (fairely easy with 530D). While doing that I keep manoeuvering not to be killed with the first missile of the second Mig23. After that I let the Mig23 fight with your flight and I engage the MiG29 in the same way. It is also quite easy to plash one 29. From there it becomes a dogfight.
PiedDroit Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Wingmen don't react... I managed to beat that mission only once or twice, by surviving until the merge (lots of turning + chaffs) and shooting them all at close range (with Magics and guns). I never managed to connect a Super 530D without being shot down myself.

I'd be very interested to get a track from you to see how you deal with the BVR part, as I'm really bad with it

Try both, one of them should work.
Guest deeplodokus Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 many thanks for the "main radio"/"aux radio", my wingman is finally acknowledging request to engage! i'm confused though, is there no cockpit button for this main/aux radio select? is it ONLY a hotas button in the actual plane?
jojo Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 These are "push to talk" buttons. Like any radio. This is more convenient on HOTAS. Even on general aviation aircraft you have PTT button on the stick. Mirage fanatic ! Is there a switch to change from the Aux. UHF radio to the U/VHF radio? Is there a switch to change from the Aux. UHF radio to the U/VHF radio? All your radios are always active (listening) and there is one PTT per radio. In DCS those PTTs are also used to switch radio (for game menus).
Eagle0110 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) Yes there is a switch to switch between the main and aux radio, it is on the other side of the throttle. Guest deeplodokus Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Read the manual guys :) the question was: is it ONLY a hotas button or is there also a cockpit button? i think it's a fair question even for someone who's read the manual :) is it ONLY a hotas button in the actual plane? but anyway, thanks for the answers all and happy flying :D :joystick:
