gospadin Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 BeaconSites.lua lists each beacon type's power, which they may or may not be modeling. NDBs are 400W. I've had NDBs work at anywhere from 30 to 200 miles, depending on which beacon it is. Mi-8 can pick up some beacons from VERY far away, up to about 250 miles in some cases. L-39C I've had be unable to see a beacon until it was within 25 miles. I am not sure why. For route planning, I usually plan a bearing to fly from the previous beacon, and the beacon I'm supposed to find as I get closer. Once i'm within the detection radius, I lock on and adjust my course. My liveries, mods, and missions for DCS:World M-2000C English Cockpit | Extra Beacons Mod | Nav Kneeboard | Community A-4E
Spetz Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I can pick them up in the ground from at least 150km away, ground strength full. The other night I was trying to tune one that was about 205km away and the ground strength only moved about 1/4 right. Once I flew about 15 km the strength went full right.
