Problem with skins

Hello everyone and happy new year !

I have a problem with skins so that everytime I install them in bazar folder they show mess up in the game.For example skin for mig-21.Is this the wrong folder ?

 

Can anyone help ?

try that one :

 

in

Saved Games\DCS\Liveries\MiG-21Bis

 

create the directories \Liveries\MiG-21Bis

 

and put the migliverie directory uncompressed, you've downloaded inside

it should give

 

Saved Games\DCS\Liveries\MiG-21Bis\xx_nameofliverie01xx\

 

with

description.txt and xx.dds files "inside xxnameofliverie01xx"

Mind You, lots (if not all) of old custom skins for MiG-21 are not compatible anymore with latest versions of the game, as this model went through some shape and mapping changes recently. Same applies to old F-86 skins.

do you have something like that in the picture attached?

 

If yes

 

- try a repair -> in DCS bin folder : "DCS_updater.exe repair"

- check your Mig 21bis is correctly installed in modules

- check that the description.lua file have at the end the correct country code ( maybe you try a skin which work only for ru or a single land ?

 

 

at the end of the description.lua modify like that

id=0

name = "metal_Mig21bis"

 

--countries = {"USA", "RUS", "FRA", "UKR", "SPN", "NETH", "TUR", "BEL", "GER", "NOR", "CAN", "DEN", "UK", "GRG", "ISR", "ABH", "RSO"}

Well, we don't know what he means by "messed up". A screenshot or two might make things clearer.

that's what I have with almost any new skin I download for mig 21

The MiG-21 model was altered in a recent update. I think there are only 1 or 2 skins that are recent enough to work with it, the older skins (ie nearly all of them) give a messed up texture on the fuselage due to the new mapping. No template had been publicly released though I think at least 1 or 2 skinners have a new template (whether ED or self made) but seem reluctant to share at the moment. This has seriously hampered the production line for MiG-21 skins I'm afriad.
