Hi all,

For some reason I cannot control the door gunners aim or the co pilots flexible mount aim.

The weapons can be fired but just not aimed, any suggestions?

My understanding is that mouse look and joystick inputs can be used to control aim in these situations?

Cheers,

Danny

For some reason this seems to be a problem with the Huey module. it works for me maybe 30% of the time.....maybe. And when it does it's not very easy to control and is not at all usable to any extent. The gunners either only look straight ahead, or they have 0 control over the mini gun. And when they do, it is a constant struggle between the track IR and the mouse aiming. It does not matter what you have the Track IR aiming set to, it just doesn't work well at all, that is when you can get it to work.

The co pilot sight is a nightmare at this point. Again, it is constantly trying to decide whether its using track IR or mouse. And neither works well on it's own no matter how you have the configuration set up. The Huey hates track Ir.

Belsimtek: Please please please fix these issues. they have been known for some time now. And it seems that I have yet to be able to fly or plan any missions using all of the features that were suppose to be part of the Huey. It almost seems like that when you fixed the troop embark issues, the gunners went out the window. If there is a solution or setting that I am missing, I have yet to find it or read about it on the forums. So if there is, please enlighten me to it. I would certainly be in your debt. And it was mentioned that the mouse / gunner aim was incorporated in the axis command section of the controls settings. If it was, it never made it to my version.

So please Belsimtek, any help is appreciated. It is very frustrating.

Zimmerdylan, I am not sure I fully understand the troubles you seem to have ...

By default, in DCS you change your view / virtual head by mouse AND TIR. As TIR registers even tiny movements, it will usually "win" over the mouse. But as soon as you pause TIR (convinient hot key for me: num-enter, right next to my mouse), the mouse stays active and can be used to change your virtual head orientation.

In the Huey, you aim with your virtual head ("TIR aiming" active in the opions. That means, if you don't pause TIR, you aim with your real/TIR head. But when paused, you can use the mouse to change the view = the gun.

It works quite well for me - although I, too, would wish that we could have both at the same time: head movement with TIR and also gun movement with the mouse ...

Thanks for the info gents, but I'm not using Track IR yet .... it's in the budget for this year ;)

So should it work ok without track IR?

Hmm. I guess I'll have to post some tracks. So when I get time I'll make a few for you. My Huey doesn't seem to be working the same way that yours is.

If I use track IR aiming, one of two things plays out.

1. my gunner just faces forward and will not engage the gun

2. if he does manage to get behind the gun, the track IR goes waaay off kilter from the actual barrel site when I turn my head. It tends to lean to the far outside left or right.

I have been able to pause my track IR and use the mouse look to aim at times. This goes directly contrary to what you are talking about. But sometimes, with both my gunners and co pilot, I have both mouse aim and Track IR. That's just impossible to use.

I guess I'm going to have to go in and figure out what's going on with my DCS settings. Something is certainly amiss here.

Oh....If I turn off the Track IR aiming, the gunner just looks in whatever direction I'm aiming but the gun sits still.

Now that is weired. What you describe is the behaviour I get when i DISable TIR aiming.

Just to clarify, I use:

options: TIR aiming ON

in game:

TIR active --> TIR controls head and gun movement, mouse is doing nothing

TIR paused --> TIR controls nothing, mouse controls head and gun movement

To shoot, I pause TIR and look around and aim with the mouse.

If it's the same problem I have. I used to be able to contol gunners position with the mouse in earlier versions of DCS world. I now find the mouse doesn't work. And only track ir aiming works. Personally I prefered aiming with the mouse, when it worked. Otherwise the Huey is working beautifully in 1.5 2.0.

Does anybody know how I can get the mouse aiming working again?

Yes, but not always. Sometimes it doesn't work no matter what I do. I honestly thought that it was a Belsimtek bug. But now I'm going to have to figure out where I'm going wrong. I have done a repeir. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall the Huey.

And when the track IR is on, the head movement is not at all calibrated with the gun. And westr is also correct. All use to work fine. In NTTR, it's like this. I'm not sure about 1.5 because I have not flown the Huey in that since 2.0 came out.

But let me do some investigating on it. It must be something in my settings or track IR, or something.
