gospadin Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Is the behavior of the airbrakes accurate? I find that they have almost no ability to slow the plane below about 400km/h. If I deploy brakes above that speed, my airspeed quickly falls to about 400, then my de-acceleration stops. Even with throttles at idle, the plane doesn't seem to slow down well at all. Is this accurate? Do the airbrakes really affect speed so little on this airplane? (All the other planes in DCS see a much larger effect from deployed airbrakes). thx --gos My liveries, mods, and missions for DCS:World M-2000C English Cockpit | Extra Beacons Mod | Nav Kneeboard | Community A-4E
Goblin Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Are you unable to go below 400 in idle and speedbrakes out, level flight..? That is definately wrong. Maybe your throttle is set up so it won't idle?

Try to check your axis, you might very well have some axis double assigned to throttle. DCS as standard generally cross-assigns axis to all control devices present. gospadin Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 No, i'm saying the plane eventually slows down, but the rate of deceleration changes significantly at 400, and it takes a very long time to slow from there. Either way, the L-39C appears to have the least effective airbrakes of any aircraft modeled in DCS, and I was wondering if this was normal. frumpy Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I tried the airbrake L-39 and MiG-21. I don't have any RL experience in either one, but they both seem fairly reasonable. Keep in mind that the authority goes in squared, the drag at 600 km/h is 4 times higher than at 300 km/h.
ED Team Yo-Yo Posted January 14, 2016 ED Team Posted January 14, 2016 I tried the airbrake L-39 and MiG-21. I don't have any RL experience in either one, but they both seem fairly reasonable. Keep in mind that the authority goes in squared, the drag at 600 km/h is 4 times higher than at 300 km/h. And the induced drag at low speed are far greater than the drag of the airbrake... Hook47 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 This. The faster, the more dramatic the effect of the airfbrake. This may be part of the effect you are experiencing
