Nvidia increased PowerConsumption from 358.87 and newer

Recommended Posts

According to numerous independant lab tests Nvidia has a bug in it's newer set of drivers.

You might want to google and read yourself if it matters for you.

My idle load went up to 23% thanks to 144Hz in Desktop mode in Win10, it used to be way below 10%.

tom's hardware page should have the article in your language, for german you can read here:

I am running 361.43 and it is not fixed for my setup.

Same goes to GF Experience, it does not show me 361.60 but says I am up to date. I read about 361.60 but no way to DL it other than from within GF-E.

BTW, the article is updated as of today Brisse, so by no means this is fixed or obsolete.

Just installing the new fast-ring preview for 10, will install the 361.60 right after the upgrade and see what happens.

It is actually no bug or such, nothing dramatic, just not-as-it-should-be and maybe just loud for cards that arent watercooled and start to spin up the fan ( as said on forums ) like mad in desktop.

As said, I installed the newest preview for Win10, version: 11099.rs1_release.16109-1156

and Nv 361.60 with no signs of less power draw.

I ran from 144-120-100-85-60-24 Hz and monitored Power while switching, apart from my mouse getting very jumpy at 24Hz the power lowered by about "1-2" value per drop in frame rate, down to like 12 with 24Hz.

The screenshot has it marked in yellow, though it is very small and hard to see the 1-2 drop in value you can still see where the journey goes, also that this was done after a clean reboot, waited 5 min, and then took the shot. I have no idea why the card goes to 44% after boot for many minutes including mem/clock to spike very high as well, like doing excessive 3D stuff...as you can see in the big blocks at beginninng of the graph.

Not a biggy, but for sure not fixed with this driver and newest 10 around

what makes me think is the stated runtime in my TaskManager !!!!!

This stupid little Win10 built !!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was OFF, totally OFF 5 min before LoL

..anyway...mayAX1200i is broken and I need to take this monster apart so I can send it to Corsair ( fan wont spin up ). sigh.........

Win10...the longer I use it the more bugs I find and the more stupid erros I get ! Could be the preview builds, could be anything LoL... otherwise it's pretty stable...if it doesnt stumble over itÄs own feet like all windows do...sooner or later

How much can you trust TaskManager ?? we know it lies with RAM and CPU and now this waahahaaa what a bad show out of Redmond
