certhas Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Hello forum, i've got a little question. My old saitek x52 is getting pretty loose at the joystick Z axis, so i was planing to get a warthog as upgrad. I did mod the throttle of my x52 to provide it with a middle detent to enable reverse throttle on the same axis. Now i've seen and read that the warthog trottle has a changeable AB detent where you have to lift the throttlestick/handle. Did anyone mod the detent to a middle detent without the need to lift the stick/handle? Or can anyone tell me if it might be possible to do so? greetings certhas
txmtb Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I would imagine you could get a part 3D printed that would allow it. I've thought about it before just to get the AB detent to not requiring the lift to get over the hump and just be able push through it. certhas Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 Check out this thread--http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133199&highlight=warthog+detent thanks for the link, already read it before i opened this thread. guess i'll have to wait till i hold the warthog in my own hands, shouldnt be to hard to make something that works.
El Hadji Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 There is a way but of course your warranty will be void if you mod it... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133199 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My computer specs below: CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K@4.2GHz | CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100 | GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 680 2GB Lightning 2GB VRAM @1.3GHz | RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3 1600 | SSD 1: Corsair Force 3 120GB (SATA 6) | SSD 2: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (SATA 6) | Hybrid disc: Seagate Momentus Hybrid 500/4GB (SATA 3) | Keyboard: QPAD MK-85 | Mouse: QPAD 5K LE | TrackIR 5 + Track Clip Pro | Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog | MFG Crosswind | OS: Win7/64
BravoYankee4 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Hm... this is definitely something I have to do as soon as the Viggen module is released...
Chicki Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Geeez, sorry guys. I gotta learn how to post link to thread better. Sorry if it's old info. Sure hope you guys figure something out. Love to have a detent that's a bit easier to get past.
lobo Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) Why not do it simple? 1) Remove the front thumb screw holding down the detent cover. 2) Cut piece of black flexible rubber to approximately 20x20 mm size. (adjust as req'd). 3) Drill or punch a hole in rubber appropriate for thumb screw. 4) Replace thumb screw using a washer through the rubber detent. The thumb screw/washer holds the rubber in place. The rubber acts as a detent providing resistance for the throttle to push through at the desired point of resistance. Adjust width of rubber detent to adjust resistance, adjust the length of rubber to adjust where resistance is felt. No need to lift throttle over the fuel cutoff gate. All mods done at your own risk. See this video regarding the thumb screws. certhas Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 It's going to take a while till i order the warthog - have to wait for the pedals to get manufactured - but as soon as i have made something that works i'll update the post
certhas Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 Ok, after playing some time with my new setup and the modded warthog i can say it works like a charm. the mod requires a bit of cutting at the throttle itself but if you remove the new part it works just like before: first i did widen the notch (the one thats just right in front of the changeable afterburner thing) as i thought i'ed make a small detent piece, but then i realised that it would have to less area of support (if you want to do the mod aswell you wont have to do that). then you have to remove a bit of the curve and make a flat area for the new detent. and this is it. i cant tell you the radius i used its a bit of try and error till you get it right: finalised: The detent is removeable - in theory, it has to fit snug to prevent any wobbling. In game (Elite Dangerous) - might also work in target (i dunno) i had to set throttle to full range (forward and backward on same axis) and set a bit of a dead zone.
