Does LN have any plans to fix the tutorial bombing section so that it would correspond to what it was IRL? With no arcade CCIP pipper. Bombing where pilot needs to pay attention to dive angle, height of release and speed.

Are there any plans to include information on proper RL bombing (with figures and tables for different bomb types) in the sim manual?

I just started reading a manual a few days ago, and I got really interested in the proper bombing techniques on the MiG, so I was just about to ask about it.

I know that the CCIP behavior is completely unrealistic, but is it possible to bomb with realistic procedures right now?

It is.

There's just no info neither in the tutorial nor in the manual.

Theoretically, we can simulate the procedure by flipping the man-auto switch to "man" and following these tables for different bomb types and dive angles, setting the manual aiming angle accordingly.

I'm just not sure if DCS ballistics are accurate enough for these figures to be valid for our bombing purposes. Some testing needs to be done.

With a fixed pipper, as it is working now, one can get a pretty accurate results in either auto or manual by releasing the bombs when the "launch" light goes on, just as we do it now with rockets and guns. I'm not sure if it's historically plausible procedure, but it's improvement over CCIP.

Yeah, I wanted to try bombing with those tables, but it looks to be quite difficult with those low speeds and high dive angles.

The angle knob in the MIG goes only to 9 degrees if I remember correctly.

The proper procedure would be to set the sight in CC/Manual mode, enter the angle from the table for the desired bomb, dive angle, speed and release altitude.

You dive to the target and drop the bombs when you hit the altitude listed in the tables.

The correct max depression angle is 7 deg, which is correct in game.

I'm using RL pop up attack profiles and adjusting the manual depression to suit.

Fly the attack over and over until a hit pattern forms for the depression angle, then practice 'till the profile is consistant .

Favourite dive angles are between 20/40 degs. speeds 800+ for the fab 250.

CCIP is not correct for the RL sight for bombing, but OK for rockets and gun when used in conjunction with the radar ranging and standard profiles, so I would hazard a guess it is an adaption of a DCS sight, e.g A-10.

I doubt it will ever be an exact representation of the real sight.

That would be deplorable.

I wonder why Novak never ever said a word on the subject. Isn't he the one most familiar with the ASP in the whole team?

Nice flying. Do you have any bombing tables?

Yeah, I would really like to hear something from him. He has to know the correct way to use the sight.

I don't care particularly about there being a CCIP option, as long as we can use the sight realistically as well. The manual should explain that.

The launch light doesn't go on in manual mode. You can make it go on any time by adjusting the distance manually with the TDC, but that's not very useful. :D

The scale goes to 11 degs. but there is a solenoid switch which limits the depression to 7 degs.

In 1.2 it use to run the full amount and drop off the bottom of the screen, but now it's limited to stay correctly within view at all times.

Ah, I was thinking about "gyro" and "CC" mode, a little misspelling in my post :D :D :D.

I used CCIP for this attack but

CCIP isn't accurate for clusters or retarded when flying S&L so I added a manual adjustment obtained by trial and error for different height and speeds, or you could simply use manual and get the same result.

I don't have bombing tables, but RL ones might not be exactly the same as the game ones anyway.

The way to use the sight is as you described it earlier, using the manual option, except that you make your own tables by trial.
