Hi

Just got into this sim I got it on Steam and it runs fine, the only problem is that the rotor sound in cockpit only seem to sound pulling back on the stick aggressively etc, when I look at videos on YouTube the blades can be heard quite clearly. Have moved the sliders in setup but doesn't seem to help, is there a fix for this?

Thanks

um real pilots in real pits cant here anything except the buzz of their comms. But you should here the weighting and unweighting of the rotor disc in this sim if you cant then something may be off maybe check your speaker sound settings and if all else fails do a repair of your install.

Thanks for the quick response, I only get a hum in the black shark, I seem to get a more realistic sound in the Huey. I know pilot's probably don't hear the sound of the blades I just think it adds to the realism, F1 drivers don't hear other cars when racing but its good to hear them in a sim. Maybe it's because I only have stereo speakers?

Dont get me wrong i agree with you but since i use a buttkicker for tactile feed back not as in need of all the sound. Maybe check and see if you have some sort of surround sound filter going with what ever sound setup you have. do you have hear in helmet ticked in the dcs world settings? if so turn that off and try it

OK will have a play with the settings although I have tried before, don't get me wrong I don't have sound problems with other games or even DCS it's just that when I checkout YouTube videos on the black shark the cockpit sounds a lot better than mine in terms of rotor sound, I get a good clear sound in external views etc so will have another look at the settings later

install Devrims' rotor sound mod http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93448

I got fed up with the default BS looping rotor sound pretty soon.

My setup: Intel i3 4170, NVidia GTX960, 4x4GB DDR3 1600MHz, 128GB Kingston SSD, FaceTrackNOIR

Modules: KA-50, Mig-21, SU-27, Mi-8

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter -- and therefore, unsafe

Thanks for the response

i have tried these replacement files before they don't seem to make any difference, i don't think i can hear the rotor sounds in the first place so replacing them with new ones don't make any difference, i think it must have something to do with my sound setup so will keep trying that.

once again thanks for the support

I'll make some updates on my mod and original BS sound.

Yes, there's annoying loop (very bad loop) in original sound.

Coming soon. :P

you didn't say, that you unchecked the "HEAR LIKE IN HELMET" option.

in options>audio tab

Yes tried switching of hear in helmet but to be honest it makes more of a hissing sound so put that back on. It's hard to describe what I can hear but it's as though I'm in an aircraft rather than a helicopter, you don't get that beat of the blades like I would expect. The only time I hear the blades is if I suddenly drop the collective or make a sharp turn then it sounds great, when the helicopter settles the sound of the blade stops.

You guys haven't said whether you get a better sound than me,

Headphones sound the same as the speakers, I'm installing Windows at the moment on a new hd, haven't done this for a long time so when I get things running I'll let you know if it makes any difference, you never know

Because of its coaxial rotor system, the KA-50 is much quieter than the Huey. You won't hear the rotor noise in the cockpit like you do in the Huey.

Yes I do understand that but most vids on YouTube seem to sound better than I get, perhaps they have mobs or maybe their speaker setup is different but you can clearly hear a rotor sound in the cockpit, I want that sound. As I have said I will soon be installing DCS onto a new SSD HD fresh install of Windows so maybe just maybe it will sound better. If not I think I,ll just have to accept its me and the sounds are as they are
