Blackcan Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Hey, as a huge submarine geek I played every submarine simulator out there and even studied real technical data sheets or tatics from the us navy. Lastly I played dangerous waters which is extremly realistic (especially with the lwami mod). But what I miss is a multiplayer between units like. In DW (dangerous waters) there is a helicopter and a plane but most of the warfare is ASW (anti submarine warfare). But in DCS much more would be possible like giving support via ballistic Missles, transporting special forces or spying for planes etc. Of course the level of difficulty / realism should be equal "relative" team like in dangerous waters. Any idea from you guys?
Rangi Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Great ideas, cant see them happening this decade though. PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.
Blackcan Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 I don't know i mean. The Major Thing probsbly would be a good sound Engine which simulate real sound waves in the Water which are faster and slower depending on the water (temperature, Salt percentage) and the Freqiemcy. Properly working Broadband, Narrowband, Demon, SSP, different ARRYS depending on the Sub. And apropiate ASW weapons like ASW Equipment for Jets or Planes like Torpedos or buoyancy, This maybe look alot but keep in mind most of this calculation cxan be reviewd in Dangerous waters and Used from there. The rest would be normal things like rocket lanches, 3D Interior etc.
Silver_Dragon Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 "coming playable Naval" has relative. I think a naval unit coming to "playable" actually (no dates), will be similar to CA stile. We need wait some years to ED work on a plausible naval environment if ED has some plan to work on them, of course. Of course, if ED someday open the naval environment and work on a plausible sea "engine", I expected update my 3D models to work into them. QuiGon Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) As far as I know it is EDs long term plan to make DCS a full combat sim throughout all three environments (Sea, Air, Land). But it will take some years to get there. Btw.: I also enjoyed Dangerous Waters a lot :) Maybe you should take a look at "Command Modern Air Naval Warfare" ;) Edited January 22, 2016 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
