Hi all,

I've been playing DCSW for a year or so, and enjoy flying in single player - especially simple missions I have created.

However, I'd really like to try out flying in a Multiplayer environment.

To this end I have purchased a gaming headset and I've downloaded TeamSpeak.

So earlier today I went into the Multiplayer section, but I couldn't decipher which server I should join, many were locked anyway and I'm looking for (at first) a semi casual experience.

Due to other commitments I cannot sign up for specified squadron meeting times (unless they were very flexible).

I can fly most of the planes, and use there weapons systems, SU-25, SU-27/33. F-15C, A10C. I'm currently learning Mig21 and the Huey/KA50.

My main problem is I have never played online, and I'm not familiar with TeamSpeak either.

Can anyone recommend a server I could find that welcomes newbies (to the online side - protocols etc) and preferably be a training/free flight type server to begin with.

Also, any advice regarding TeamSpeak, and online etiquette would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Worther_1

Any one of the unlocked servers that your ping isn't too bad on really. Maddog Sims normally have 2 servers running, one in the UK and one on the US east coast, that you are welcome to join. Checkout http://www.maddog-simulations.com/index.php for their TS info as well if your interested in jumping onto their team speak.

The 104th server is also popular for PVP as well when it's up.

As for free flight servers, there are a few the normally mention free flight in the server name or mission name.

I feel much the same way as you do. I came from flying Jane's F/A-18 long time ago, granted the flight dynamics weren't what they are today but it was a lot of fun. It was very easy to fly with others as there was 'Hyper Lobby', a common chat room and launch centre from which you would launch into multi-mission with others you would be chatting with.

Because it was informal you could fly anytime with any one or more people.

I used to like to fly on the 51st server, but it seems they have fewer people now, usually I fly alone.

Hi Worther_1,

If you're looking for a place to start, Virtual Aerobatics may be a good solution. It's a weapons-free free flight server. You can fly around yourself or join formations with other pilots. It's a pretty friendly environment and entertains all levels of experience.

Start in the Virtual Aerobatics server sir!

Once you get the hang of flying your aircraft of choice and being on teamspeak then make your move to the =TAW= Server and teamspeak to begin your combat experience in DCS!

=TAW= are a fantastic bunch of guys with a solid track record of helping new players get in to DCS, they have lots of members from all over the world so I am sure you will find someone to be your wingman ;)

Thanks to all for your comments, I'll have a look at the Virtual Aerobatics server this afternoon, and see how it goes. Maybe I'll meet some of you in the virtual skies!
