девиация = deviation

ки-13 = KI-13 (A magnetic compass)

арк = ARK (a radio compass)

ц-060 = C-060 (an onboard inertial system)

проверка = Test (inspect, verify, etc)

дата = Date

EDIT: Now that I know where this comes from, "дата" must mean "data" or "information", even though every source I can find insists that it doesn't.

So now: "девиация проверка дата" reads: Deviation Test Data. This is from the aircraft's compass deviation card. :EDIT ENDS

Thanks for bringing that up ;)

КИ-13:

АРК stands for Автомати́ческий радиоко́мпас (Automatic radio compass)

(not sure but it might be the АРК-22 or anterior versions for the Su-27S (19 or 20?))

How should we interpret the deviation graphic for the instruments (Su-27 cockpit - related to Hydrox' attached picture) ? (deviation in degrees (-10 to +10) based on the heading?)

(I know it's just a simple picture rather than a tool in the sim but I'm curious about how it's used by the pilots)

[EDIT: I found some clues here (russian)]

Based on the leather headtracking system I'd say it's definitely steampunk-y ;)

That's where his image came from! I knew it looked familiar but couldn't place it without the rest.

That's the compass deviation card for that aircraft. With all the electronics and whatever else onboard creating their own magnetic fields, the onboard compasses need to be adjusted to minimize error as much as possible. After adjustment, that card is then generated. It indicates the residual error for the aircraft. (Or that's how it works in regards to sailing.) To use it, find the heading you want to fly on the card and, then, adjust your heading by the amount of the indicated deviation depending on the instrument you are using.

EDIT: BTW, this chart has nothing to do with magnetic declination or variation (true north vs magnetic north). That would be a separate calculation based on where you are.

Thanks for the details Rich!

Isn't it weird that both extremities of the curves (0°/North) have different values? Shouldn't they be the same?

Nice work on customizing your cockpit with useful info, Hydrox :thumbup:

My point was mostly to make it english, but I couldn't translate all those russian, so gave up and filled it with just something, maybe I should add some nice pinup pics instead ^^.

Yes. They should. :)

Pinups are best. :) Easy to find and no translation necessary.

Unfortunately, now that I know where this comes from, "дата" must mean "data" or "information", even though every source I can find insists that it doesn't. The Russian word for data seems to be "данные". Must be another one of those intrusions of English into a country's aviation language.
