lazduc Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Where can I find a list of the modules and DCS titles that are ( and here is where it gets confusing) out of beta, or released, or finished but will/may still get additional features and or will/may get upgrades and repairs. PLEASE, Read the entire post. Currently there seems to be a problem with 1.5.3 and I thought that this was a stable version? Which versions are considered stable and also which 3rd party titles are stable and with what version of DCS 1.5.xxxxx or 2.0.xxx or beta (?) 1.5 or what, I cannot keep up with what is what. I do not want to load anything on to a new computer that is considered beta or alpha or I cannot really determine the correct definition of these words when referring to DCS and the modules and the 3rd party. In the e-shop they are listed as "download beta version" and requires DCS 1.5 or 2.0 or they are listed as "download version" like the new released L-39 Albatros which is listed as ,"out of beta". Does all this mean that unless the module/title is "out of beta" then you will encounter major bugs and problems as these are incomplete and are still in development? I also notice that 2.0xx and 1.5xxx are now combined so what are the releases of DCS? What version or what number or what??? should be downloaded to be compatibly with the modules I have purchased? I thought 1.5 was a beta or pre beta? So if these are not "out of beta" then how can any of the other modules work with either of these DCS titles? I have also noticed that most of my modules are listed as download beta version. So they are incomplete and should be considered unfinished and with bugs? Is 2.0.1 or is it 2.0.2, out of beta? I am loading up a new computer and only want the (Here I still do not know what to call these modules) " Out of Beta" types or almost done or finished or will have future upgrades/repairs and what does upgrades mean? How about feature upgrades or bug fixes, what are they called?:cry::helpsmilie: :D:thumbup: When will DCS World, which is the bottom foundation, and will/should have the "out of beta" EDGE engine which should have support for SLI and be "the Out Of Beta" released version become available(?).....but will have significant upgrades/features and still remain compatible with 3rd party developments. Thanks for your thoughtful answers. Laz

lazduc Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 SD Impressive amount of information...thanks for that. However, many of my questions still remain. Laz
cichlidfan Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I would say the A-10C, BS2, and the Mustang. Nothing else is out of beta, as in has all announced features, has a complete manual and/or is stable. IMHO, or course. ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1
lazduc Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Ciclidfan, Thanks. IYHO would you say installing any of those, or all of those in lets say, DCS World 1.5.3, or 2.0.1, would run without crashes or spending hours trying to debug the installation? Also I read that ED has combined 1.5.3 and 2.0.1. Does that mean there is only one platform...errr I mean one DCS World now and not the three that were available? And does this latest DCS World version have the latest EDGE graphics engine with the promised SLI support? Interesting that the modules you mentioned with the exception of the Mustang were available and sold as box versions (Lockon) many years ago. I have purchased all the new modules except for trainers and scratch my head wondering why I purchased unfinished software? I would have never in the past, purchased any software that was stated as incomplete as in unfinished. The labeling and semantics now describing software is almost beyond comprehension. I can understand purchasing software which will have features and probably a few fixes added later after its release but one expects that software will run, I mean you pay full price....I think its almost like gaming software is kick-starter funded except for console games. Thanks. Lazz
NeilWillis Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 The software does run, faultlessly in all 3 versions. The "unfinished" nature of the modules is a label you can apply to all aircraft in ANY other sim, simply because they don't reflect the full complexity of the real thing. If you were to ask a more appropriate question - such as which aircraft available in DCS World cannot be flown, and are not as good as the pap we are served up elsewhere, then the answer is a straight forward "all of them". Do not confuse feature complete with flyable, and do not assume that simply because there are 3 versions of DCS World, that only one of them is stable. Unless you add in modifications, then all 3 versions are stable, and usable both on and off line. You won't have to spend ANY time debugging DCS World. They ALL work!
