I am building a new PC, and I want to know what I could expect to run DCS at.

Here are the specs.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

Graphics card: Still undecided, but I am leaning towards a GTX 950 2gb, but will 2 gb be enough? My current GT 610 2 gb almost is maxing out with settings on ultra low.

CPU: AMD FX 6300 black edition

Ram: 16gb 1866 Mhz

OS: Windows 7 Professional, might take it windows 10.

SSD: PNY 240 GB

1 1080 P monitor.

Thanks for any feedback in advance!!

950 is not really that good of a card, the 960 isn't much better, they will run dcs, though you'll have to turn settings down a lot..

AMD CPU's have awful single-core performance unless you can get one that'll overclock to 5+ghz, so that might be an issue.

if you can pick up a second-hand i5 motherboard and cpu, something like an i5-2500k, you'd get a lot more out of it.

also make sure you get 16gb ram.

My youtube channel Remember: the fun is in the fight, not the kill, so say NO! to the AIM-120.

System specs:ROG Maximus XI Hero, Intel I9 9900K, 32GB 3200MHz ram, EVGA 1080ti FTW3, Samsung 970 EVO 1TB NVME, 27" Samsung SA350 1080p, 27" BenQ GW2765HT 1440p, ASUS ROG PG278Q 1440p G-SYNC

Controls: Saitekt rudder pedals,Virpil MongoosT50 throttle, warBRD base, CM2 stick, TrackIR 5+pro clip, WMR VR headset.

I would rethink this IMHO

Everyone has their opinions but You won't be running high settings with this system.

You would be disappointed to say the least.

Beef up the card to 3 or 4 gb and go for an Intel Processor like a 3770k or better.

Be sure to do at least 16GB Ram.

BTW. AMD cards are doing fine with DCS contrary to old beliefs.

Don't be afraid of Win 10.

Many will follow with tons of options but I believe what you are looking at is a pretty weak system.

See spoiler for my sys I built a year and a half ago specifically for DCS and SC...I run everything maxed with no issues.

Oh right I forgot to list that! I do have 16 gb of ram! I saw vids on youtube of it getting 60 fps with gtx 960. And 1.5 is a whole lot less cpu intensive! I have a very strict budget, So I got what I could afford! Thanks for the feedback!

I know its not the best, I have a very strict budget, but a friedn gave me half the parts for free, and I am putting every dime into it. I am only 15 and don't have a job, so my income is very limited! Thanks for the feedback!

Hey it's a start. Apply your settings for the best experience and enjoy!

Have you flown anything in DCS yet?

Pick a module you would love to have and I will gift it to you as a welcome to DCS.

Shoot me a PM if interested. :pilotfly:

What did your friend give you and/or which parts are you planning to buy, and, if you don't mind, how much can you afford to spend? That might help folks here suggest the best options for the money you have to spend.

He is giving me the motherboard, case, PSU, and was going to give me a ATI 7770, but I am upgrading. I already bought the CPU, RAM, OS, and a HYPER 212 EVO heatsink. I have $180 right now and still have to buy a DVD drive, SSD, and graphics card. I have another $150 of stuff I could sell on ebay, but that would take time. And I bought my stuff on ebay, so I can't return any of it.

I know I Should of bought it all together, but I got a really good deal on the CPU and RAM so I jumped on it, cause I can't afford much more than a FX 6300, witch I hear is amazing for the price, and beats most i5's.

And remember, I am not some crazy gamer. I just want to be able to get a decent frame rate, and i am not worried to much about graphics. The other games I play are, War thunder, and hero's and generals. Right now I am getting about 15 in all of them with lowest graphics, so anything is better! I know this setup could run those on Ultra at over 60 FPS!

Also my parents don't want me spending much more money than I already am, and I want some left over to get head tracking, and maybe upgrade my joystick.

In your case, I would say that a GTX960 or 970 would be a good price/performance compromise. If you can swing the 970, definitely go for it. If not, the 960 is fairly inexpensive and will run DCS just fine (though you won't be at max detail in Nevada). For the price vs performance difference, I wouldn't purchase anything less than a 960. You also want 4GB of VRAM.

For reference, I run an i5-2500 and a GTX660, and I can run the Caucasus map at high detail with medium water and get 50+ FPS. For Nevada I run at medium detail for good frames. No FXAA in either case.

If your parents are concerned about your budget, just explain that this is a career enhancing move (assuming you want to fly for a living). :D Worked for me, anyway...

Doesn't matter. Offer still stands. Both the F86 and the Mirage are nice jets. Or NTTR/F86 bundle? :pilotfly:
