Hey,

we were a bunch of guys on 104th in Ka-50's trying to BuddyLase targets for one another with

somehow mixed results.

Until I dropped off at 4am we found out that it seems that the firing Ka needs Shkval and slave it to the Laser Marker popping up once your Buddy is lasing.

I managed to release a ML-25 that instantly took off instead of dropping down, it actually leaves the aircraft quite spectecular, nice done effect ED ;)

The laser turned off shortly before my ML's hit the lased target and fell couple hundred meters short. On consequent runs we were not able to reproduce the launch with active rocket motors.

Sometimes they just fell to the ground or did not release at all.

Any findings after 4am ?? 460 ? YoYo ?

I should dig for the track and see what we did other on that one run that actually launched the ML's...... not too much hope as it will be a long track and tracks are like high maint. girls. ;)

Did you switch the Laser-Switch with the cover during your tests? (Don't know the correct name, as DCS is not in range)

This overrides the default timer and will give you - possibly - the missing seconds until impact.

With 1.2 we made successfull BL between Ka-50s, but so far haven't made a test with 1.5 or OpenAlpha.

I've looked into it, this is what I have come up with.

Step 1:

KA50(Lasing): Laser rangefinding/designator mode switch to designate(This allows full 21 second laser time, if the The lasing KA50 is equiped with KH25ML laser will burn for 60 seconds).

KA50(shooter): Laser power off. Manual/Auto weapon control switch to Manual.

Step 2:

KA50(Lasing): Acquire and DL target to Shooter.

KA50(shooter): Ingress DL target and lock with Shkval. Select KH25ML and range target ONLY, and turn off laser.

Step 3:

KA50(Lasing): Announce countdown to laser Designate(ie, 3-2-1).

KA50(Shooter): Once laser has been announced, wait 1 second and then launch KH25ML.

To get any sort of range or speed from the KH25ML, you have to have altitude and forward speed. The higher and faster you are, the more probability it will impact prior to laser shutoff. The Missle with start to loose speed around 8km and dive, when fired at 2km AGL forward speed around 270kmh.

Hope this helps.

One thin to mention:

KH25ML has to be employed at fast speed.

Releasing it at hover you'll need to be at least at 300m (AFAIK).

Otherwise it will hit ground a few hundred ahead..

Sure, we were at about V-Max and 3k high...plenty everything when we tried.

will try again when we all are in TS again and have time and patience ;)

Bit,

Tried again with M460 a couple days back now, and we were successful. The timing had to be tight, but there isn't anything special we had to do. The parameters we used were same laser code, 800 meters or higher flying at 250 kph or greater with a distance of around 7-8 km. I didn't use the Shkval, data link or range find the target at all. My laser was off the entire time.

The height was certainly needed as I watched the missile fall like a brick before it started tracking toward the target.
