erjdriver Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 1. Once I have the Schval locked on a target - how can I move to a different target w/o resetting the screen - let's say I want to move to another tank right next to the one locked on. 2. I reported this issue before...but when I get a datalink target - i lock the schval on it and the target is nowhere to be seen. is this still a bug?
King_Hrothgar Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 1) Press and hold the lock button, this will allow you to slew around. 2) Did the target move? Did the target die? Is your laser on? Did the person who marked the target for you have his laser on?
erjdriver Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 1) Press and hold the lock button, this will allow you to slew around. Thanks I will try it. 2) Did the target move? Did the target die? Is your laser on? Did the person who marked the target for you have his laser on? No target is static and targeting is being done by AI - so i'm sure it's being done correctly. The azimuth (direction) to the target seems correct - but have to move up/down to find the target. Someone wrote that the map elevation data may be off etc.
King_Hrothgar Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 That's a very real possibility. This isn't a feature I've used in years tbh. I use the datalink for situational awareness, not actual targeting.

Someone wrote that the map elevation data may be off etc. I know that the PVI-800 does not store elevation data, so when entering a target point, the shkval will point at sea-level. I am not 100% certain, but I believe that the same applies to targets shared over datalink: only lat/long and target type is communicated.
kilix Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 (edited) It's not a bug. EDIT: ShuRugal is absolutely right: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89424 You can try this without AI wingman: Start in a hover. Mark a target, store it in memory and try DL INGRESS. It's 100% accurate, right? Yes. As long as you stay in the same spot. Change your position and do DL INGRESS. It's now only roughly accurate. The more you move your position&height relative to your starting position, the less accurate is the DL INGRESS. If you return to your starting position, it will be 100% accurate again. Edited April 7, 2016 by kilix My setup: Intel i3 4170, NVidia GTX960, 4x4GB DDR3 1600MHz, 128GB Kingston SSD, FaceTrackNOIR Modules: KA-50, Mig-21, SU-27, Mi-8 If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter -- and therefore, unsafe
St3v3f Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 That is incorrect. Targets stored in the Datalink System are stored in 3D. The effect describes is simply caused by inaccuracies. aka: Baron [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
erjdriver Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 1) Press and hold the lock button, this will allow you to slew around. I had the LOCK button mapped to a joystick button - that along with slew also on the JS - made it non-usable. Moved the LOCK to the thrust lever - and now I'm golden! I wish ED would fix this issue with the datalink target - makes it close to useless. Other issue is replay - amazing you can replay back and there's always a different result.
