On the video below it is shown how to automaticaly slew shkval to the target point, stored in PVI-800.

But i can't make it work properly.

When i press cage/uncage "O" button (after choosing point in PVI-800) shkval slews to the line of sight on the target. But not exactly on the target. It stops somewhere between my current position and chosen target point.

Can someone tell me what i do wrong?

Problem could be inaccurate coordinates or invalid range for in-flight designated target points. If it stops between you and the target, the range indicated at the moment you designated the target was wrong, given you approach the target from the same direction as you designated it from. Remember this does not apply to pre-set TGT points or coordinates entered TGT points.

My procedure:

- Shkval off

- Select target point

- Make sure it is visible on the ABRIS

- The TGT Point Icon on the ABRIS should be Flashing.

- Press DL Ingress on the DL panel

- Shkval on

And your shkval will be slaved to TGT point position.

Also works for TGT points (either designated or coordinates entered) created during the mission.

PVI-800 target points don't have altitude information, only lateral coordinates so Shkval uses sea level as a default altitude. After auto-slew, slew upwards until you think you see the target and lase and check ABRIS if the LOS line ends at the PVI-800 target point location. If not, move Shkval up or down accordingly and lase again until you get the right range.

Thx a lot that could be a reason.

You dont have to use the dl-Paneln for this... it works without it

the important thing is to make sure the shkval is caged before pressing ingress btn on datalink. once button is pressed, uncage the shkval and it will pan round to the target.

Those are 2 different methods to slave the shkval upon the target:

1. by dl: therefore you have to cage the shkval, switch OFF TGT in the PVI-800, then press the the target-type-button on the dl-panel(of course you had to store a target in the dl), afterwards the ingress-button on the dl-panel, now the target-type-button unlights, when you now UNCAGE the shkval it move towards the target (also very nice: when pressing the Route-Mode, the heli will fly towards it)

2. by TGT (PVI-800): therefore cage shkval, select a target point on the PVI, UNCAGE shkval... and vôila

on both method you have to be shure that the helmet-mounted sight is OFF

Yes you are right.

I've always thought that it was required to use DL ingress. This because the blue square, indicating a TGT point, is flashing on the ABRIS. That is like selecting a DL point, which then requires you to press DL ingress if you want to slave your shkval. So I applied this to the flashing TGT point automaticly, not knowing that it adds nothing. Well, the only benefit I've seen so far is a range indication on the HUD. And since DL ingress has the priority in route mode, you can at least make sure that you're really navigating to your TGT point if you use DL ingress in conjunction with selecting the point in the PVI. For example: I once navigated to a hostile area in route mode because I forgot to turn of DL ingress while having airfield 1 selected in the PVI.
