FAC help

In the task bar of the ground units(under Perform Task), there's a command that says FAC and FAC Engage Group, but I'm having trouble understanding its role. Exactly what does that do for the group and/or units selected?:huh:

 

Edit: Honestly, I have a lot of questions that could use answers, subtle and complex. I've looked throughout the dcs manual, but still could use more clarification. I'll probably post them as soon as I hit a roadblock.

I haven't personally used the AI FAC, but I believe the former is a general tasking that will give whatever targets to whomever asks, and the latter is for directing specific groups to attack specific targets.
