britgliderpilot Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 let me show you. Even if they are wrong look at how much degree of freedom there is to say 32 flares for the flanker ingame is WRONG. The spec is open to interpretation - IIRC the dispensers are actually in the tailboom, so that's wrong. The Flanker 2 manual stated that there were a number of countermeasure cartridges, each of which releases two flare and one chaff. You fire a cartridge containing that amount, not invidual flare or chaff. But hey . . . . many things to be improved upon :P http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Pilotasso Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 The spec is open to interpretation - IIRC the dispensers are actually in the tailboom, so that's wrong. Actualy theres 1 dispenser at the boom that is not visible in the pic. I dunno of theres more, the manual of the kit is missing alot of decal referrences, I still have alot dispenser decals left on the sheet. .
Guest Cali Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I know it must be hotter than hell in Az...you dehydrated cali?? i THINK THE HEAT IS GETTING TO ME. Oops at least I got to work inside all week long :) And next week I'm going to mid shift, so it will be cool then also.
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 That looks pretty friggin' good for a brush job, Pilotasso. Since we're sharing photos of our projects, here are a couple of my Tamiya 1/32nd F-15E project. I have the pit finished so far, but that's on hold now while I build my 1/32nd A-10A. F-15E Pit

NY3D Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Scale 1:72 Question. (plastic models) I am looking for some Russian aircraft models, any of the Flanker series. However I dont understand anything about scale,I want my model to be at least 16 inches long, anyone have a link to any websites that sell these plastic models????thanx in advance.
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 www.squadron.com They sell models of all different things, along with supplies, from every manufacturer you can think of. Looking for Eduard from Czech Republic...they've got it. Zvezda models...they've got 'em.

The bigger the models, the more expensive they are to buy, make, and the harder is to build. There are some links on this thread as well: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=17723 .
Guest IguanaKing Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 I don't know much about the best, large models of Russian aircraft, but if you want to build the best, big F-15, go Tamiya (Japan). If you want the best, and only, big A-10A, go Trumpeter (China). The Trumpeter A-10A is awesome, the detail is amazing. The only fault is the cockpit detail. This is odd, since the Trumpeter ACES II seat in the kit is the most accurate representation I have seen so far, its almost identical to the high quality seats in the Tamiya F-15 kits. The rest of the pit, though, buy the Verlinden kit made specifically for this model. Throw the Verlinden seat away though, its awful, the kit seat is among the best you could possibly find in this scale. The other shortcoming of the Trumpeter A-10A is the armament choices. Don't get me wrong...the armament is quite diverse and very detailed, but, they include weapons that the A-10 was never certified to carry. MER's? Well...just skip that whole step in the assembly process. ;)
hitman Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 I seriously need to get back into some modeling. Thats some amazing super-detailing in that cockpit, IK, Ive only seen pits like that in hobby stores behind a glass case.
Pilotasso Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 Cool. I have to get myself an airbrush. these paint jobs look so much better than mine. NExt time I get a model Im going to do this. So far I kept controlling the costs of each model construction down. .
Guest Cali Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I didn't use a air brush kit, just the spray cans. I had a friend that air brushed and his looked like the real deal. I wish I would of taken some pictures of his, they were top of the line. He could have won if he put them in any contest. But the spray cans work really well, like I said I tried to brush paint them myself and it turned out like crap. I had about 7-8 1:48 scale models until my son got into them. After that I decieded to go with 1:72 because you have a better selection. The SR-71 and F-117 should be easy to paint since they are black.
159th_Spetz Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Well, after ready this thread I decided to make some models again too (been a few years)..Just picked this up today, may require a bit of "additions" to get it accurate. I want to do both in our Squadron colours..Thanks in advance..

Try this http://www.aviapress.com/viewonekit.htm?MAQ-7240 or this http://www.daveswebshop.com/airmain.shtml Here is a 1:72 scale Su-25 http://www.justplanefun.net/search.php?mode=search&page=1 hope this helps
Guest IguanaKing Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 On the Su-25 subject, here are a couple of links to models you can order on-line. Su-39 (Known now as the Su-25T...I think) http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=ZV7217 Other Su-25s and accessory kits. http://www.squadron.com/SearchResults.asp?ScaleList=everything&TypeList=everything&ManuList=everything&Key=Su-25 Squadron.com is awesome. The shipping is fast, inexpensive, and your purchase is well-protected for its journey. If it wasn't for having to eyeball actual paint bottles, I wouldn't even have to go to the local hobby shop anymore. If anyone is thinking about airbrushing, I highly recommend the Paasche H-SET kit. It is an extremely simple airbrush to use, and even has enough features on it so an expert airbrusher will like it as well. Dixieart sells a nice compressor, with a foot pedal and moisture trap/regulator, for about $150.00 (a STEAL for something with those features). Its quieter than your microwave oven too, so you don't have to worry about disturbing your neighbors. :D
hitman Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 That makes me wish I still had my F-15E 1/32 scale. I spent 2 months on it, 4-5 hours daily doing body putty, trimming in the panel lines (with dental floss no doubt), and finally all the airbrushing. Thank god it was only one color. Spent 3 days painting the thing AFTER I got done airbrushing it. Watercolors make good shadows on the wings in the body panel lines. I sold the thing to Hobby Lobby or HobbyMaker in Bedford, Tx. for like $350. Could have been more if I would have made the diarama.
Guest IguanaKing Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Was that the Tamiya or Revell/Monogram F-15E?

hitman Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Was that the Tamiya or Revell/Monogram F-15E? It was the Revell Monogram Triple Hat Eagle.
hitman Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 And you think I need to drink more water  You DO!!! Your not properly hydrated. See you riding your bike outside on black flag days without gatorade or water. Bust your butt down to A1C by the medics.
wasserfall Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 For those who are interrested in the Trumpeter SU27 1:32 scale, i am building one, buty it needs a lot of correcting and it's huge.
