*Aquila* Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 (edited) Hi all. While the manual pip system allows quite accurate bombings with the AN-M64 500 lb bombs, the M-117 750 lb ones made available since the latest update fall quite too long. This can not be considered as a bug. The M-117's and the AN-M64's ballistics seem to be credibly simulated, and, as a matter of fact, are different one from another. The system just needs a specific set of dials to be suitable for the use of the new M-117s with manual pip. I assume that the M-117s need to be released from a higher altitude than the AN-M64s to hit the target, all other things being equal. NB: I haven't yet tried the M-117s with the other aiming methods, but I'll soon give this a try to check the differences with AN-M64s. Edited April 15, 2016 by *Aquila*
Reflected Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I did some tests and the other methods - manual and automatic release dive bombing - work just fine. I could never be arsed with the manual pip mode, it seems totally useless and cumbersome with the other options at hand. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord

I understand your choice. :) Mine is to try to use the plane the way it was used IRL. You might be interested by the operational suitability test of the F-86F, published by the Armed Services Technical Information Agency, date may 4th of 1953, which stated that: "In current operational and training practice, the A-4 "automatic" bombing function is not used in dive bombing since it is prohibited by Technical Order No. O1-60JL-69, 4 Decem-ber 1951." And Attempts to release the bombs automatically result in the bombs striking and damaging the under surface of the wings and flaps. In view of this, bombs were not dropped with the sight set for "automatic" releases"So, in terms of simulation, manual pip control bombing makes sense IMHO.
