Sling rope length

Hi all!

 

Do you use other sling rope length besides the default 15 m? Do you see advantages in doing so?

Does it increase the risk of damaging the cargo? I mean by dragging it or by the sudden pull? I often damage cargo when lifting it from ground.

I have found that using 30 m gives me the ability to hover with barometric altitude autopilot engaged out of the ground effect. Engaging it too low takes me up and out of the rope length.

Well, yes, it's always a risk, but no matter the length of the rope.

With practice I can now pick up cargo with a 15 sling rope while hovering in strong winds.

Sling rope length also have an influence on the rope oscillations. The longer the rope, the harder it becomes to fly with it as the oscillations amplitude are increased.

Yep! That's how we do heli logging here in BC.

Could dev allow for longer rope lenght ( long line ) with up to 150ft like most real life operations ?

 

Shouldn't be too hard
