Yurgon Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Fu and Selby are fighting hard right now. At this session, I wouldn't hazard a guess, both might make their way to the final. As for Ding and McManus, I hope their evening session is going to be just as good as the previous one. My money is still on Ding, but it looks like it might be a lot closer than I, too, would have anticipated.
Yurgon Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Oh noes, Fu's cue tip just fell off! Looks like it was possible to re-attach the old tip, but that sure doesn't help. "Luckily", more or less, this happened towards the end of their second session. Then again, after the repair, it looks as if Fu didn't get too distracted, continuing his break and securing the frame. Wow.
Aginor Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Oh, that's really unfortunate. Let's see how it affects his play. Interesting story on how important and personal the cue is (I hope I remember it correctly): After losing the cue he had been playing with for his whole career (it was severely damaged while transported by plane) it took Stephen Hendry several weeks to recover. He then decided to always train with more than one cue in case it would be damaged again. Some players (don't know about Fu) also do that with tips. They keep a few tips ready in case something like that happens. The advantage is that they can continue play (almost) unaffected. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
kontiuka Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I swear every time I see this topic in the forums, I read "Smoker World Championship" and have to do a double take.
Lucifah Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Talking about old: Marco Fu isn't exactly young either, he's just two years younger than Higgins. :D You're right! I thought he was a young lad in his late 20s, but heading towards 40 already that old fart! ;) My humble rig: Windows 10 pro 64bit; i7-6700k on Gigabyte Z170X G7; 32GB; MSI 980ti Twin Frozr; 512GB Samsung 950 Pro (NVMe/PCIe x4); 1TB Samsung 850 Pro; Komplete Audio 6; TrackIR 5 Pro; DCS 2.5 with almost all modules; favourites: Shark, Mi-8, Harrier, Viggen, Mirage, Hornet
Yurgon Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 So, Ding Junhui reaches his first World Championship Final, and at 17v11 it's almost as predicted by Aginor. ;) Fu and Selby take a bit more time, starting the final session at 12v12 and having set the new record for the longest frame in the Crucible at a little over 76 minutes earlier this afternoon. Both surely have the potential to win the game, but to me it's impossible to tell who's going to find his strength first, although I think Selby is stronger when under pressure.
Yurgon Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 Woah, Selby vs. Fu, what a match, what a great final session and what a fantastic 32nd frame. Both played extraordinary, incredible safeties. All things considered I think it's a victory well deserved for Mark Selby, but I feel bad for Marco Fu, who also played excellent Snooker throughout the entire tournament. And, once again, very close to Aginor's prediction - kudos to you. :) Up next, 4 sessions of Mark Selby vs. Ding Junhui. I'm sure it's going to be an outstanding and memorable finale.
Yurgon Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 Congratulations to Mark Selby for a well deserved victory, becoming World Champion for the second time. And also congratulations for runner-up Ding Junhui, who turned what looked like a one-sided match after the first session into a great finale. I'm pretty sure he'll get another chance to win the title, and hopefully will do so then.
Aginor Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Great games. I could only watch the evening sessions, but everyone played really great snooker. Fun to watch! :) DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
