fitness88 Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) Are users of the X52 Pro or Rhino supposed to put as many of the HOTAS commands in the game software first and then only if you have special needs that the game software can't accomodate, use the Smart Technology software? Thank you. Edited April 21, 2016 by fitness88 omission
Sryan Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Feel free to do as you see fit. I have a rhino myself and put as much as I can ingame, and only do features where the software provides an advantage for me through the HUD software. I know people who don't use the software at all. Check my F-15C guide
fitness88 Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 I'm wondering if mapping through the game software is more compatible with the game?
Sryan Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I'm wondering if mapping through the game software is more compatible with the game? No such thing. Both methods work totally fine in the game. There's no advantage for either software mapping or directly binding keys. It's all about the user preference. Check my F-15C guide

MadDog-IC Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 (edited) I'm wondering if mapping through the game software is more compatible with the game? I do all of my aircraft modules controls with SST for the sake of it is easier to manage and configure and isn't affected (unless they change the keyboard commands) when you need to clear your DCS config and input folder due to dcsw problems, However it is more work to setup the SST profile to start with. I have just found it more tedious to re-setup all buttons to the joystick in DCSW than using SST. Using drivers and SST v7.0.40.1 under windows 8.1 Regards, Ian. Sokol1_br Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Other reasons to use joy soft: - Increase the functions mapped in joy' buttons trough profiles, ex. profile 1 joy button 1 do this, profile 2, do that... - Create macros to "cheat" with some games functions, e.g. Mig-21 LG controls in one press button, same for eject sequence, etc. Direct in game can be used modifier and switches for increase functions per buttons.
fitness88 Posted April 24, 2016 Author Posted April 24, 2016 I'm using Saitek 6.2.2.4 drivers and 7_0_13_22_64Bit_Software. I didn't want to use the newer Mad Catz software as it did not allow for changing profiles on the fly through the Multifunction LCD Display. Would anyone have an opinion on their last driver and software release: Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_7_0_53_6_x64_Drivers Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_7_0_53_6_x64_Software
