I have been playing flight simulations for some time (EF2000 was my first one) but I have always been using a rather crappy standard joystick.

As I discovered LOMAC and gotten to love it I decided that I want to upgrade my entire rig to be able to play the game at its full potential.

So I will buy a new computer very soon and I would like to get a decent flight control system (joystick and throttle) as well. I would really like the hardware to last some years if possible. Also it should be suited to play LOMAC without using the keyboard as much as possible but at the same time I want it to be able to adjust it to any other games I might play.

Also either the joystick or the throttle will have to have some sort of rudder control (rotational axis on joystick would be perfect) because I don't want to use foot pedals for rudder.

Of couse the Saitek X52 immediately pops up but is there any other product that is up to the challenge, like some thrustmaster?

I rely entirely on your opinions and reports on this and I'd be very thankful of any recommendations and/or criticism.

Thanks and good night!

I use a Saitek X45 myself and haven't had any problems in the 4+ years I've had it.

(minus the little ring that centers the stick but it works better without that no annoying creaks)

I agree ...if you dont want to use ruder pedals for your feet the best choise will be the Saitek X52... in these days.

By the way... why dont you want to use ruder pedals for your feet ?

You can fly much more precise if you use ruder pedals like SIMPED-vario instead of a build in ruder axis in your joystick, especialy in landing sequences with sidewind or damaged plane or just for aiming purposes while attacking ground targets...

Thats why i do not recommend any other Joystick with an implemented ruder in the joystick axis ( and i tested really many sticks )

I had an Afterburner II from Thrustmaster myself years ago and was not satisfied with it, not enough buttons to program and the pots were unprecise after a few month of use.

I decided to buy the Hotas Cougar ... and i am very happy with that one.

( but still modded the stick because of the strong springs inside ) :joystick:

CH Products sticks are a very good choise in my opinion, but not cheap.

But i do not recommend the ruder pedals from CH, pots get unprecise after a while and your feet are too close together , its not comfortable like a simped vario pedal.
