Can't turn on auto pilot

I can't get auto hover or any auto pilot function to work. Anyone know what I might be missing. the auto hover is on in the weapons training mission and turns on and off for me but I can't duplicate that in a unit i generate with hot start.

From the manual:

 

To be able to engage the auto­‐hover mode the helicopter has to meet the following conditions:

 

• Ground speed lower than 18km/h.

 

• Roll and pitch lower than 30°.

 

• Vertical speed lower than 60m/minute.

 

I struggled to turn on the auto-hover until I followed this.

I don't think that is the issue. It turns off and on during the training mission. Just not after I create a unit. I am thinking there is something not turned on maybe...

So for auto-hover you just need to press the auto hover key, nothing else. The easiest way for me is to set the NADIV to tell me the speed and then slow down and meet the other parameters. Also having the control indicator helps so you can see it's on.

Yep that's it. I guess in the training mission it was trimmed better ....I will surely get shot while trying to get the auto hover on :)
