Gunpods effective range

I have no Problem to shot some armed vehicles with the huey, the range of the miniguns are high enough to hit a ZU23 truck before he can do damage. But with the MI-8, no way.

Whats wrong, is the huey range to high or the MI-8 to short?

Is there any purpose to load them, how you guys use them?

I wouldn't use the 7.62 /.50 gunpod against aaa targets. It's easier for them to hit you than for you to hit them. Use rockets instead. The gunpods are useful against unarmed / unarmored targets. They are also good against infantry and other helicoptors.

 

I generally prefer the 23mm gunpod or rockets.

Are you talking about the 12.7mm or 5.56mm miniguns? The 12.7mm ones should have a more effective maximum range than the 7.62mm ones on the Huey, but the 5.56mm ones should have less effective range.

There are no 5.56mm guns on the 8.

 

The huey has a flexible mount. This means it is a lot easier to hit things. The Mi 8 hits a lot harder, but the fire is very inaccurate.

You are absolutely right sir! I'd forgotten and my mind had filled in the details with rumours of a prototype which probably doesn't exist!

 

As for the original question - I looked up the specs and that rate of fire, muzzle velocity, and weight of the bullets are all comparable with the M134 - so you should have twice the firepower from the Mi-8 compared to the UH-1...

I think the Huey may also be frozen in god mode at the mo, a lot will change when we get Huey 2.0.... after the MI-8 is done of course.

 

With the MI-8 a lot of know how needs to be learnt to get rounds on target.
