Slazi Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I was wondering if there was any information about a Steam release for the Gazelle. Are we likely to see it soon or in the distant future? I'm aware Steam releases are often a little behind.
BronzeYardNo11 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 From what I read, about two or so weeks. And of course that might will definitely be subject to change. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2761336&postcount=39 1 ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give OH-6 ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

I'm really happy to hear they aren't ignoring Steam.
Fri13 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 That is a great news! As a steam user I respect those who release their modules for steam even in beta or anyways, at about same time as for standalone. As I am as much a wanted customer to module developers as is any standalone user! If there is 1.1 million DCSWorld owners in Steam, 200 000 (IIRC) active users (once a month plays it, AFAIK) it means there is big possible customer base there as well. So putting a good DCS promo for the DLC (as modules are there DLC) will increase sales. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Dingo_Bob Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I'd say of that 1.1 million most only have the bare 1% of the game installed in order to avail of steam sales when the modules go cheaper than standalone then transfer serial keys over to standalone :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Modules are like Pokemon you gotta catch 'em all :joystick::lol::pilotfly: AMD Ryzen7 3700x, G-Skills 32Gb RAM @ 3200Mhz, MSI GTX1080Ti, TM Warthog (20cm extension by Sahaj), MFG Crosswind Pedals, Oculus Rift, Track Ir5

Sure, but steam allows fairly quick updates from developers, in few hours when it is a weekday, but at weekends it will be pushed easily to monday. Slazi Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 Let's not turn this into an argument: SiThSpAwN: "The goal is next week for 1.5 and another week after that for Steam. That is the hope, subject to change of course." It's pretty clear they are going to make it work with 1.5 first. The hate for Steam doesn't do the DCS community any favors. Let's keep it positive.

Yes, none of those applies to DCS modules. The problem with early access was that people tried to cash with it by producing games or even just a mockups and then getting money and jumping off. You got lot of games using easy and simple game generators like "RPG creator" or such. And any DCS module has been in state that it is far better and finished than almost any other game in early access. Like now example Mirage 2000C missing INS system etc would not have broken that new Valve guidelines what so ever. If someone would now put a mod to DCS like a external model of Rafael using a Su-27S flight model, claiming full module in a year or two, billing a 39.90 for "early access" and then just leaving everything hanging. That would be braking those guidelines! Lying to customers, not having plans to finish anything, and not having really anything at all. Early access as well doesn't really cut here, as any module developer could release module for DCS and simply keep it as beta like in standalone. Nothing would be a different from a standalone version than the module DLC page has information and pictures telling it is a beta etc. That is what valve allows, what steam makes possible etc. Developers task is "just" upload same files to steam as to standalone as the key system and such is not required to be redo every time again. It has been done previously, it is currently done and can be done in the future (most likely, as otherwise you would need to release a finished product without any reason to fix or improve it ever = against everything and impossible). We are getting gazelle sooner than many thought and it is a nice as that how it is suppose to be, let us choose to buy a beta or wait for "1.0". As ED will make sure that module will get finished by controlling development tools and access etc. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.

I dont think steam users needs any favors, just that the same service would be offered, a change to buy and participate to early launches etc. If we could use keys cross system, there wouldn't be a problem as we could buy from ED and use steam. But that not being technically possible, we are left hanging if module developer isn't taking care of it, like now for a Gazelle. I dont mind few week delay, but a few months or over half a year is already unacceptable. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Slazi Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 It's up to the developers. Luckily, we shouldn't have to wait too long for this! As you said, a few weeks behind is no problem.

I dont know about that as just on Hawk subforum developer said it is up to ED to push update to steam too. So developers needs to wait ED, like thw Hawk update where it was exclusively to standalone but not to steam. And that makes no sense to be a beta channel in steam when ED witholds the update from steam version. But, maybe a week now and I get to buy a Gazelle... Just if others would be available i would buy those too... (Mirage). i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
