ldnz Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Hello, Has anyone managed to enter coordinates using the polar method in the manual? Need - Say I have range and bearing to target, and want to provide coordinates to a10 for strike. I could give range and bearing from my position read straight out, but it would be nice if I could enter them into the Nadir. This would also give me a waypoint to fly around if I wanted to reposition for an attack. I can't seem to get any response at all from the Nadir when using "from a point to another point (polar)" instructions. Help? 1
Erk104 Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 You have to select a waypoint n (number 1-9) click the ENT button then you must click the EFF button to remove the blinking (defaulted)N coordinate... then it will allow you to enter the new coordinate. After doing this you hit the down arrow key and do the same for the E Coordinate. Hope this helps. 1

ldnz Posted May 3, 2016 Author Posted May 3, 2016 Thanks Erk104, I'm happy with entering coordinates normally, its quick and easy. What I would like to do is create a new waypoint as a bearing/range from either current position or an existing waypoint. The manual suggests its possible (POLAR entry) but doesn't show how it works.
sniporbob Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I have tried very hard to figure out how to do this. It does not seem to be possible. I made a post over at /r/hoggit with my findings. It seems the polar button is only useful for offsetting an existing waypoint by the bearing/distance between two other waypoints.
ldnz Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 Ah good find, at least you got it to do something. There must be other uses for the POLAR button, that seems like a rather pointless piece of functionality if it is all it does.
Jacks Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I have been testing this and got the same result. It is a shame that we can't enter a bearing and distance to create a waypoint of the target which we can pass to others. It seems the polar button is only useful for offsetting an existing waypoint by the bearing/distance between two other waypoints. If that is the case, why not insert your own coordinates in a point and then create a new point with polar coordinates from the first (your position). Seems like it'll work around. ldnz Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 That works - but just check your last digit :) format in NADIR is DD MM.M instead of DD MM SS shown in mission editor. I think? Polychop - can anyone weigh in on polar coordinates? I doubt that button was included purely for decoration.
