VR PC Build for my upcoming CV1

my discussion is about Virtual reality though contents is about hardware..

 

this video is motivating me to build a PC for VR, particularly with the upcoming new Nvidia Cards being released.

 

 

I SOOOOOOO tempted to build a PC just like this, but to include the GTX 1080....

 

Thoughts???

Hannibal, I basically maxed out my PC. I opted for the Titan X over 980Ti even though you don't get *that* much more with Titan. However, what did it for me was more VRAM on the Titan. In the DCS Alpha/Beta threads, many folks were running out VRAM so I figured I'd go with the 6GB VRAM of Titan.

 

Also, SSD is a must, but you don't need 1TB. You can just keep the OS and DCS on the SSD and keep other stuff on regular (cheaper) disks.

 

So I guess it depends on your budget and how much you can swing. Just keep in mind that DCS is still very CPU dependent.

i can get a new CPU.

if it is not the 6700K, what else is there? what cpu would you get for the best DCS performance?

 

my understanding is that for DCS, the goal is 4 cores at the highest clock speed.

I wanted the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII GENE.

 

but it doesnt have enough USB 3.0 ports.

which means i need a USB 3.0 card, taking up the PCIe X1 slot...

 

because the board only has 1 PCIe X1 slot... i only can add USB 3.0 ports...

 

but im expecting to use the simshaker software to push a buttkicker, im not sure if i need an additional sound card..

 

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME if I can run buttkicker, and a Jetseat, with or without an additional sound card while also using the Oculus CV1 built in headphones??? please

I'm partial to EVGA so I grabbed the equivalent from them. Got 32GB of DDR4 to go with it. And looks like GTX 1080 is shipping shortly!

after seeing videos of enthusiasts over clocking their 6700K to the 4.5G+, trying to catch the windows free upgrade before it expires, and the upcoming release of GTX1080 has...

i bought a 6700K, maximus gene, and a small form factor case from microcenter.

watercooler and memory on order.

Hey Hannibal, how are you powering your butt kicker? i.e. are you using the standard buttkicker amp or something else? What speaker system are you running? And how are you finding the jetseat?

Does the simshaker software work okay with DCS? I wasn't sure it was supported. - Correction, I was thinking simvibe.

I've got a 700Watt amp running 2 x butt kicker Mini LFE's (tapped off the centre/sub analogue)but I'd rather have the 5.1 surround run from the optical digital out.
