I'm struggling a bit with landings. Granted, I can bring her down safely, but I never feel like I did a nice landing. Hence, here are a few questions:

- Correct approach AoA is 14°: what is the correct landing AoA?

- Should I flare? Up to what AoA? Or should I just cushion the sink rate without pitching?

- After touchdown, the nose seems to have a mind of its own. I know I should aerobrake by keeping it up, but if I pull it skyrockets up and I end up scraping the nozzle; if I keep the stick centered, the nose falls down nearly immediately.

- Related, what is the correct AoA for aerobraking?

Me too.

Little problem in the FM in the current 1.5.3 OB.

=> fix incoming probably next time ;)

I noticed the same.

After a few landings, I am sure that the FBW is trying to keep the nose up to aerobrake, all by itself.

The problem is that the moment the main gear touches the ground, there seems to be a lot of friction (almost as if the brakes were applied before touch down), and so the nose goes down harshly, and if you pull on the stick, your pull + the FBW pull-up input makes you skyrocket.

Try not to touch the stick when you touch down, and you'll see that the nose goes down first, then the FBW automatically pulls it back up to maintain 14 deg. AoA.

Pretty sure this is buggy, either the wheels/brakes have some issues, or the FBW.

I have following experience: when landing in latest Open Beta (1.5.3.52875) after touchdown in around 140kt, if I do not apply airbrakes, Mirage FBW is holding AOA 14 for aero braking. Once speed drops to 98kt, AOA begins oscilating between 12-17 AOA, but speed stays at 98 until airplane crashes at the RWYs end (without using wheel brakes). Engine is idle immediately after touchdown, but after slowing down to 98kt speed stops droping.

With speed brakes activated after touchdown, Mirage slows down and below 100kt, nose begins oscilating between 12-17 AOA, but speed continues to drop and around 70kt front wheel touches down. Without using wheel brakes airplane leaves RWYs end at about 40kt. I have been testing this at Mineralnye Vody airport, with 4000m long RWY.

In previous version (Open Alpha 2.0.2.52658 ), its possible to land in Groom Lake (3600m RWY) using aero braking (with or without airbrakes) and Mirage stops itself before the end of the RWY without using wheel brakes at all.

It seems in new OB version, aero braking is less effective. Wheel braking seem weaker as well, I feel that now it is a bit harder to stop the Mirage after landing. I have noticed as well, that on idle Mirage is moving forward very slowly, same as Su-25 do...

If you look at youtube videos of Mirage taxing you'll notice that they start rolling out instantly and usually have to hold or parking brake to stay stationary

Even with the nozzle fully opened the idle thrust is still significant

Thank you for info Rlaxoxo and CptSmiley, I didnt know about that feature. So the only problem is that Mirage stop bleeding speed at specific conditions (without speed brakes out)...

Hey, you fix bugs faster than people can report them.. I've had enough of this :P
