So after installing some downloaded skins I realized they did not install parallel to the default skins but replaced the default skins for the F-16s...

My question is "Repair" isn't working to fix the problem. Can I copy files from a good DCS world 1.5 installation to DCS World 2.0 to fix the problem?

It may be a problem related to how older models have their textures setup. Check the description.lua for the modded liveries and see if they are in a similar format to this:

livery = {
}
name = "usafe 22nd fs (sp) spangdahlem afb"
id = 4
countries = {
"USA",
}

If it is then the modded textures will replace whatever shared the id value. The modded textures can be in the proper format like how the Hellenic Air Force F-16 liveries were done:

livery = {

{"texture F-16C-PAINT-DEF-L1.BMP f2 g0", 0, "f-16c-paint1-haf", true},

{"texture F-16C-PAINT-DEF-R1.BMP f2 g0", 0, "f-16c-paint2-haf", true},

{"texture USA-ZNAK-LIGHTGRAY.TGA f2 g0", 0, "empty.tga", true},

{"texture USA-ZNAK-DARKGRAY.TGA f2 g0", 0, "empty.tga", true},

{"texture F-16.tga f2 g0", 0, "f-16_haf.tga", true},

{"texture Country-Logo-Israel-AF.TGA f2 g0", 0, "empty.tga", true},

{"texture TactNumbers-ISRAEL-black.tga f2 g0", 0, "empty.tga", true},

{"texture Country-Logo-Turkey-AF.TGA f2 g0", 0, "empty.tga", true},

{"texture nomera.tga f2 g0", 0, "empty.tga", true},

{"texture PILOT-USA-AF-OKRAS.BMP f2 g0", 0, "greek_pilot-usa-af-okras.bmp", true},

}

name = "Hellenic Airforce - Aegean Ghost"

countries = {

"GRC",

}

Grimes,

I apologize. I wrote the first post in haste and didn't really provide information about what I did and "undid"

I installed this set of skins directly...

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/600898/?sphrase_id=3687982

I followed the directions and they worked perfectly. However, I lost the ability to us OTHER skins. Basically it appeared that the files overwrote the base files for the game. I removed the files in reverse order and I can see "Stock" skins with one exception. The Tail numbers show only the "BORT" number. The YEAR number is gone.

That's what I am trying to repair.

Thanks for helping

Sierra.

PS, Skate, I initially tried that with no luck. Do I need to delete specific files and THEN run repair?

Yeah those liveries totally make you overwrite existing files so it makes sense it replaced the existing liveries.

I would delete shipTxtureBMP.zip, worldTextureTGA.zip, and the livery folders that it created before running repair. I honestly can't say I've tried, but the repair might not notice changes to zip files like that if the total size of the file is the same, so it wouldn't try to redownload those files. By removing the files it forces repair to download them because they are missing.

Deleting the Livery folder for the F-16 and then running repair fixed the issue. Thanks Grimes and Skatezilla.

So the next question is, how would I go about modifying the files and building a description file to allow these work without over writing the original files? They are actually very nice skins.

It'd have to be in a format similar to what I have in my first reply hidden by the spoiler. You will have to figure out which livery goes with whichever pair of f-16c-paint-def files. I'd rename them appropriately. And then modify the description.lua file as needed. So figure out whichever textures go with the Alabama 372 ANG, rename those files and place them in the folder for that livery, and change the following lines:

{"texture F-16C-PAINT-DEF-L1.BMP f2 g0", 0, "f-16c-bama372L", false},

{"texture F-16C-PAINT-DEF-R1.BMP f2 g0", 0, "f-16c-bama372R", false},
