Do you mean the DCS Chat wich you can access via LCtrl + Tab or do you mean the Datalink Message System of the A-10?

TAB is the primary key.

By just hitting TAB you can show/hide the chat messages. If you combine TAB with either Shift or Ctrl you can type messages either to your allies or to all.

 

Edit: It's kinda weird with the A-10C though. The function of the TAB key is somehow/sometimes/for some people assigned to the M key. Not sure when or for whom that is the case. Just see what works for you. You can change these buttons in the controls menue I think.
