angelmonk Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Disclaimer, this is a Nobo question for sure. I tried search on forum and google also but have not been able to find much posting that is recent enough. Totally new to DCS World, after keyboard and mouse, realize need to invest in gear so bought these: CH Products Fighterstick CH Products Pro Throttle Thrustmaster TFRP Flight Rudder Pedals (Just released) DCS World seem to "see" the CH Products equipment but flight stick and throttle on the computer cockpit jerks around. Plus I can't seem to even know what the rudder is doing. Any help pointing to a direction or source to learn and set up is appreciated.
some1 Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 First thing would be to check DCS controls assignments, make sure the proper axes are assigned to proper functions and only one controller is assigned to given function. It's a separate setting per every plane you own. DCS doesn't have presets for all devices, so you have to do this manually. Also install manufacturer's software for your gear and check the calibration in Windows. Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
hansangb Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Yup, very common. I'm sure you have overlapping controls that are stepping one or another. Click on the the column, and you can use the "Clear all" option. I don't think that's the exact verbiage, but you'll see something similar. This way you don't have to clear things one at a time. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
PureEvil Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 also, don't forget to install CH software, calibration of CH gear should be done there. once software is installed, calibration of CH becomes unavailable in windows. Sokol1_br Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Also install manufacturer's software for your gear and check the calibration in Windows. Just don't use Windows calibration for CH, use their software, drivers has filters for potentiometers "inconsistencies". :D BTW - CH use a "modern" (for 1999) USB 1.1 circuit with 8 bits (256 points) resolution. ;)
Yurgon Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 This might also be of help: You can activate a controls indicator with RCTL + Enter. It's a small overlay window that will show you exactly how DCS sees your controller's axes in-game. That way you can see what the rudder does without having to look at the virtual pedals inside your cockpit and without having to switch to the external view. I find this very helpful when debugging controller problems, and it can also help when learning to fly, because it may show additional information depending on what aircraft you fly (most importantly the trimmed stick position in the helicopters).
angelmonk Posted June 1, 2016 Author Posted June 1, 2016 Thanks, I installed CH drivers and calibrated. Will try the suggestion to clear all and manually assign. Challenge is I don't even know what makes sense to map which key/control to which button. Assume that will be long trial and errors.
tommytank Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Assume that will be long trial and errorsYou'll get plenty of practice - you'll probably have to do it separately in every module you have in DCS; I haven't found a way of generic axis/button assignment yet.
