Still have to learn JTAC properly: I wonder if it is possible to integrate JTAC in a self made mission?

If not: are there simple missions with few opponents to train JTAC?

Best regards, Willem

Simple: place a ground or air unit, advance waypoint actions, perform task, fac assign group and set the options you want

Hello, I found this thread through a search. How come in some missions I do not get the possibility in the A-10C to ask JTAC to lase the target so I can search for the target with the TGP in LSS mode? Also, I do not always get the possibility to select "spot", "snake" or "steady" the IR pointer during night missions. The AI seems to be "buggy". I created a few test missions but these options do not work.

Create a custom mission and take a look at the FAC options. By default, the JTAC decides how it will mark the target, and in my experience it tends to default to sending data via datalink. You can, however, explicitly specify the unit to use a laser, or IR pointer.

You also need to enable JTAC in the command section of the mission planner. Click the crossed flags button, and check the JTAC box.

Without doing that, the JTAC will not function.

So what's the difference between:

TYPE: PERFORM TASK - ACTION: ASSIGN GROUP

vs

TYPE: START ENROUTE TASK - ACTION: FAC

vs

TYPE: START ENROUTE TASK - ACTION: FAC ENGAGE GROUP

Also, when I select START ENROUTE TASK - FAC ENGAGE GROUP and select the option to use IR pointer (tried with Predator and HMMWV), I do not have the F10 menu options where JTAC lases the targets with an infrared pointer (spot, snake, steady, shift,...)

@NeilWillis: do you mean MISSION EDITOR - BATTLEFIELD COMMANDERS - MULTIPLAYER/MISSION ROLES - JTAC RED BLUE and enable 1 for BLUE? Isn't that if you want to have a multiplayer slot to play JTAC yourself?

Yes, you only have to set that if you want a combined arms player be JTAC, for an AI JTAC you don't need to set this

"Sieh nur, wie majestätisch du durch die Luft segelst. Wie ein Adler. Ein fetter Adler."

You might want to check out the mission editor manual. You can download it here:

There's a really good explanation of task prioritization on "page 122" (actually pg. 74 in the PDF)

To answer your question directly, PERFORM TASK will take precedence over any START ENROUTE TASK that is pending. Once PERFORM TASK is complete, then any ENROUTE TASKs will execute in their order of priority.

The difference between FAC and FAC ASSIGN/ENGAGE GROUP is that plain old "FAC" lets the JTAC automatically decide which enemy groups it will direct aircraft to engage if it detects them. "FAC ASSIGN/ENGAGE GROUP" lets the mission designer specify which enemy groups the JTAC will direct aircraft to engage.
