This shambles was the result of the 'top brass' concentrating almost exclusively on fighting a war in Europe for over 50 years and then burying their heads in the sand. Literally.

I'm an army veteran and this war always makes me feel embarassed - not for what the guys on the ground achieved - all things considered they did a great job for which they had no proper preparation but had been on the cards for a long time. But the guys pulling the strings were imo a bunch of wasters who made us look like amateurs.

Ya I'm on US side and well won't get into it as I'll just want to flip a desk. We are our own worst enemy and we can't talk about it here but Politics and stupidity and PC culture within our ranks destroyed any objective we had on the matter.
