What would be the recommended hardware for VR in DCS, such as Processor, Graphics Card, Memory.

Would you get the most out of a processor or a GPU?

Is there a system that you could get a solid (or close to) 90 fps with high settings inc shadows etc, no matter if you are on the ground or flying in a group?

I have the following - GTX 980ti Reference, I5 3570k (OC to 4.7 water), 16GB 1866mhz and get (mig 21) 35 to 45 on the ground, using Starway Mod in 1.5 Beta, in the air between 40 and 90 (single player missions), settings - High Textures, Flat Shadows, Distance High, MSAA 16x, PD 1.0 (could be 1.5 if memory serves), V-Sync off, TSSAA off, Mirrors off.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with DCS VR as is, i'm just curious to know what would be the ideal system. :pilotfly:

Try MSAA Anti-Aliasing setting with 2x or 4x. In my experiance 16X is over kill and will reduce too much FPS. 2x or 4X MSAA will do the job.

I already tried this, it made very little difference, I'll double check when I get home and confirm!

There are no computers that will achieve the performance you've required with the specifications indicated. High settings and 90fps is unrealistic even for a 4790+1080.

Makes sense, but all I was after realy was if someone wanted to make a system for DCS what should they be looking for, I'm personally not looking to upgrade, I will wait for next generation of graphics cards/processors or the proposed Nvidia 10 series Titan, or ti, performance dependent. :smilewink:

If you OC'd the CPU well past 5 GHz on LN2 you probably could get consistent 90 FPS in single player. :D

I will wait little with new hardware at least one year.

We are witness how RX 480 effecting on GPU market. For example GTX 980Ti drop price to 400$ and for q4 RX 490 is announced.

On CPU last 5 or 6 years because AMD fail with Buldozer Intel didn't release nothing significant new technology. Probably keeping something to answer AMD if they do something better.

AMD announced new ZEN CPU for end of the year so will be smart to wait this time not just because AMD CPU. This will change price and push Intel to show new ace from sleeve.
