Having FPS issues. Which component should I change?

Hello,

 

I am running DCS since a few years and I have the feeling that the overall performance on my system is worse today than it was 2 years ago.

 

Also, I am having issues with antialiasing and can't get rid of if even if I try to use Nvidia Inspector.

 

I'd like to know which component is the bottleneck in my current system in terms of playing DCS.

 

Does it make sense to change just one part (CPU or GPU) for DCS and if yes, what should I choose to run DCS smoothly without these antialiasing problems and micro stutters.

 

Any help/advice is highly appreciated.

 

My system:

i7 3770k ivi bridge @ 4,4mhz (4 cores)

EVGA GTX 680 2GB @ 1920 x 1080 / 60hz

16GB RAM

256 GB SSD Samsung

Windows 7

Start with the video card. You are a bit short on VRAM.

Agreed, and somewhat short on GPU power as well. The newer Edge engine in DCS being DX11 utilizes more of the GPU than the old version did,

Rest of the system appears in pretty good shape.

Agree about the horse power. I didn't mention it because, depending on settings, you might be able to get by with an equivalent card that had more memory. Not that I would really recommend such a card.

Buy a Nvidia GeForce 1070 ... you'll be glad you did.

Do you know if an AMD RX480 would be enough to flying at 1080p? Or maybe should I go for a 1070.

I would recommend the 1070.
