[VRQuestion] Cockpit Scale: Seems way big in VR.

Hey Belsimtek,

 

Overjoyed with the F5E, one of my favorite fighter from my childhood. The work done so far is superb!

 

One question, mostly influenced from the fact that i come from a good amount of hours flying the A10c and Dassault Mirage 2000c.

 

The Cockpit [of the F5] seems rather big/oversized, especially in the "wide" department. I've never sat in one, so i can't tell from real life experience. But judging from the A10c and M2000c, isn't it a bit big?

 

Again, just a question, not a judgment or "bug report". I trust you guys completely on the matter.

 

Also, this is a VR-specific observation. In normal/TrackiR it seems fine, like the A10c or M2000c. It's in VR that everything seems to feel too big.

 

(yes i use the re-center and all that). More a matter of scale, really.

 

 

Again, loving the F5, it is probably one of the most impressive plane DCS has to offer right now. Much congrats on the release!

The scale of movement in the cockpit compared to your head movement must be off... Should be a easy fix.

yes it seems to be to big, I feel a little lost on this ejection

 

Hello friends. Request to all (if you are can measure it in the real life) - please replace here an actual width of the Tiger`s seat and we will compare it with the F-5E module`s ejection seat.

 

Such comparison will make you sure about all measures in the cockpit?

 

But judging from the A10c and M2000c, isn't it a bit big?

By the way - here in the cockpit model all instruments are similar by size to the same instruments from the A-10A/C cockpit model (such as altimeter, or the engine group instrumens for example, or RWR). It means that a total width of the Tiger`s main instrumental panel here can`t be wider or narrow.

The F-5E naturally has a "wide" feel cockpit...

Proportions can cheat a lot. If you have two cockpits, both have the same width, but one is higher (both instrument panel and canopyframe) than the other, then the taller one will feel narrower.

 

Or just measure a Martin Baker Mk10 ejection seat. Several birds use'em.

Hawk, Sabre, Mirage, of the modules we have for DCS.

There is a long-existing bug in the oculus runtime which does not set the IPD (distance between the eyes) correctly. So if you have an IPC which is not the average of 64mm, everything feels either too small or too large. For me, all cockpits in DCS look like they're not even 1m in width since I have a relatively small IPD.

 

So we can only hope Oculus fix this problem soon or ask ED to implement their own IPD adjustment option like some games have already.

There's an ipd parameter in the viewconsumers.lua... Maybe we should try this?!
