Hello Ladies and Gents,

Per the manual it states that Operation Dixmude is multiplayer ready. Has anyone had success with that? Me and a squad-mate would love to fly this together but the Helo's are grayed out.

Any Ideas? :helpsmilie:

Hi ;)

So, when the multi-crew will be released, you'll be able to fly the campaign with a friend.

For the multiplayer version, currently it's on hold. The triggering system which is used on the campaign is incompatible with the multiplayer client system.

To explain it better : Meatboy-1. Meatboy-1 is the main character of the campaign, and you cannot fly the scenario without him. Well, if you get killed and that Meatboy-1 is following you, he will make an RTB, causing the end of the mission. I was able to make Meatboy follow another aircraft in such situation in Solo, with AI. But for some reason I don't understand, same triggers win't work with clients.

So unless I missed something (and I tried a lot of systems), I have to wait for ED to upgrade this to release a multiplayer version, I cannot "create the code".

I could release a multiplayer version now, but you have to know that if the player that meatboy follows gets killed, that's game over and restart.

Hello Dimitriov

Thank you for you reply. I understand. I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong or if it was something that would be implemented later. I am really looking forward to playing this campaign within the multiplayer but I understand that some of these trigger features do not work well in multiplayer. I have no idea why that may be.

This campaign seems really good!

Believe me, I wasn't happy at all to see that I couldn't convert it correctly in MP. This issue comes from the fact that the decision to make it multiplayable came in the final stages of the edition. (Around miz-11-12), so step back was not possible.

To be honest, I personally wouldn't oppose if you release it like that, with a clear disclaimer hidden in small print into some obscure document burried deep in the DCS World directory structure... :music_whistling: :D

But unfortunately it'll be you and ED at the short end of the stick, when people get frustrated in the way it is working, so I understand that the release decision isn't quite so straight forward.

Hopefully you and ED can find a better solution soon, as this is one of the features I was really looking forward to.

Personally, I'd love the option to fly an 'alpha' MP campaign as I'm used to converting SP missions to MP and 'living with' the broken triggers that result.

It's just great finding good missions and being able to fly them with a friend

Hi

Technically, (i don't want to tell bullshit), you already have the "alpha multi version", check the multiplayer folder of the sa 342.

I just saw it in this folder, but perhapq is it only for the dev version. Check and tell me.

CMPGaz<n>VEN-COOP<m>.miz? There they are :D

EDIT: I guess <n> is the number of a mission, but how do these relate to the SP campaign mission numbers? <m> is the number of players?

Yes absolutely.

n is the number of the mission.

m is the number of players set on it.

This version is an old one, so I won't make some bug helping or things like this. I may see if I find back the most advanced one.

Hello Gents,

I have browsed to the Gazelle's mp mission folder and I attempt to launch the CMPGaz1VEN-Coop2.miz mission however it still will not allow you to pick a aircraft.

please see attached screenshot

Ah dang.

Well it seems that it's a very very very old dev version guys sorry :D

Gazelles simply have disapeared from these missions.

Anyway, you can simply add a second gazelle on the existing solo missions, it will be a very "barbarian" method, but well, it will do the job assuming that the leader who is followed by Meatboy doesn't get killed ;)

Ahh I tried that but for some reason you cannot save changes. Is there a way around that? Is the mission locked so that changes cannot be made?

So, whats the best to way in 2018 to play the campaign in 2 man coop? The 2,3,4 man coop versions in the mutiplayer folder are very if i recall correctly. Simply open the single player campaign missions one by one in the editor and exchange 'player' for 'client?

We would be playing 2 man coop only, so we wouldn't need a second Gazelle. Thus there shouldn't be any trigger/script problems right? Cause if one player dies, the other one goes down as well.

Yup simply put it to client, I won't guarantee that everything will work fine (lag issues cause a lot of units). Still it should work. But if you die, you die, you'll have to restart the mission.

Whoever is pilot, should host the mission with the co-pilot joining remotely.

@dimitriov

May i suggest the following: as you stated earlier in this thread, the 2,3,4 man coop missions in the multiplayer folder are old, non working test versions that we don't need. I have looked at them as well and you cannot not even slot up when hosting those in multiplayer. Additionally, these missions are pre 2.5 era and thus do not contain any of the adjustments you made when the reworked caucasus map dropped. Essentially, these missions are 97,4 mbs of wasted space on our harddrives, which get redownloaded each time we do an repair or update.

Thus if i may; delete those obsolete mission files from the module and replace them with a straight copy of the current single player campaign files, albeit with the 'player' to 'client' tweak. Maybe add a txt stating that correct multiplayer performance has not been tested and is not guaranteed, but two man coop in a single Gazelle should at least work out of the box.

If you don't have the time to do it yourself, i can send you the tweaked missions i you like.
