HELP! My Omimo VR Headset stopped working! Details inside.

Okay I bought this Omino VR headset off of ebay:

The reason I bought this was to play old games from old systems such as: Gamecube, Playstation 2, and Xbox to name a few. Now, the Headset only has an HDMI out port so I bought an AVI to HDMI converter:

Now, with everything hooked up I was playing a Gamecube game just fine! There are even options within the headset to make any game 3D and give it added depth! Unfortunately, after a couple of days I started getting a little bit of flickering. It was something I could deal with. No big deal, yet...Then, another day later, just a black screen.....frown.png

I checked all the connections, all the ports everything seems fine. The AVI to HDMI adapter still works when hooked up to my normal TV no problem. So, why would I be able to play for a couple of days with the converted AVI to HDMI and then gradually flicker to a final black screen? I got my money back and bought another one, but this time It doesn't work at all and there is just a black screen....Any ideas as to what would cause this to happen?

That much is apparent. I was wondering if anyone knows the technical reason? Why would it work running through the converter, one day and not the next. Doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, but it was working fine for 4 days. How can it be a cable connection? I say this because I bought a new one with new cables to be sure and I just get a black screen now. The cables are new. I'm wondering if it could maybe be something with the converter?

Cables will degrade if the pins are bent,

connections may come loose, etc.

So you said you have tried different headsets, different signal sources, but just one converter box. Most likely your super cheap VGA to HDMI converter has fried your headsets. Cheap ebay electronics is not always certified, and many manufacturers skip HDMI certification because royalties are much higher than the profit that they are going to make. This means that most likely nobody has ever tested that box over long duration of time.

Since the box is not guaranteed to follow HDMI specification, it can do something like output a signal with incorrect voltage level. The HDMI inputs are usually protected, but voltage protection is usually implemented as reverse diode, so it degrades very quickly under breakdown voltage (when it is triggered by high voltage). This can explain why it started flickering first and eventually stopped working.

I'd go with Amazon reviews (ones that have 500+ reviews) or Amazon Basic cables. Or check out monoprice.com They make cheap but reliable cables.

Well, now the power cord which charges the Omimo VR unit isn't working. What I mean is:

with a 0% battery I can't keep it plugged in while playing a game. It has to charge first while being off. Before, I was able to charge the Omino and play a game at the same time. Now, I can't use the headset, or play a game unless it is fully charged...Is this a battery issue?
