heroe Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 missiles do not engage in the sun, all other aircraft missiles IR if you engage, that removes :(realism, hopefully we can solve. regards :)
mattebubben Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 dont really understand what you mean right here =P. What do you mean with missiles do not engage in the sun? Do you mean that the missile seekers dont lock on the sun?
heroe Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 by pointing directly at the sun with a missile IR this does not capture the enormous heat of the sun signal
WinterH Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Most IR missiles in DCS, infact, do so. I think newer ones like AIM-9M, R-73, R-550 Magic II, R-27T & ET etc probably don't, not sure. But most other missiles will give you a lock tone when pointed towards the sun, and I recall seeing missiles go for sun in F6 view a few times. Now, I can't comment whether AI fired missiles are under same rules or not, some of the AI aircraft are known to fire rear aspect only missiles head on etc, so wouldn't be surprised if they don't care about sun either. However, if I point my plane towards the sun, I often get a lock tone. Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script
heroe Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 R3S test pointed at the sun in the L-39 and compared with the MIG 21, 21 no tone
zerO_crash Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 R-55 doesn`t do it either currently. Give them time to update these missiles. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
