Whose Explosions Are Bigger? Video.

Recommended Posts

I decided to undertake a scientific study to determine which air combat sim produces the biggest explosions. F4AF won hands down as regards TNT equivalent, but I think Lock On’s looked best.

The results are illustrated in this 2 min video. WARNING contains scenes of warfare and dodgy editing.

Here's the preview/easy download Google Video streamed version:

F4AF has rather rudimentary explosions and damage efects. Typical of a DOS game or worse.

You went to a finishing school in Switzerland? :suspect:

In terms of just a normal explosion then I have to say I like IL2 PFm. It's as funny as hell online when a bomber manages not only to take out the entire airport but anything that’s flying over it as well with just one bomb. :surprise:

Cozmo.

Gaizokubanou - weapon dropped from 7,500'. Big mistake, pilot evaporated.

Pilotasso, you'r right. You know what they say in F4AF: 'Never, ever get out of the cockpit - you won't like what you see'.

I must revisit IL2 sometime soon. I seem to remember strafing a column of vehicles and seeing figures jumping out and running for cover. A nice touch.

On balance though Lock On's fire/explosions look better, especially if a strong breeze has been set in the options.
