bkthunder Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 What is the correct procedure after touch down? Now I have the following situation: - after touch down, the fbw holds the nose up (no pulling on the stick required). - at ~110 Kts, the nose slams down very violently. I find that to put the nose down before it slams, I have to push on the stick quite a lot to make it come down before I hit the "magic speed" at which the fbw tries to destroy my nose gear  So I'm asking, how is it done in RL, and how do you guys do it? For me it seems very counter-intuitive to push on the stick so much, but I don't know how the real Mirage is flown. Thanks. Frederf Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 From what I've heard the pilot should definitely actively lower the nose wheel before it falls of its own accord. How much stick force is required I can't say.
zaelu Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 you can brake gently before 110 and it will lower somehow more slowly the nose. bkthunder Posted October 19, 2016 Author Posted October 19, 2016 you can brake gently before 110 and it will lower somehow more slowly the nose. I don't know, I have a very different experience with braking: I can step hard on the brakes all the way and the Mirage will slow down with the nose high until 110, and then slam the nose on the ground... For now I have to push very much on the stick to lower the nose. Could it be that in the real mirage, the fbw "lets go" at around 120 or something, and starts to gently drop the nose instead of doing it in this bipolar fashion of either up or down with nothing in between?
