JasonJ Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) Please help I am having extreme difficulty with this game. I had major issue with a new Windows install couple days ago. I had only just installed DCS 1.5 on that build. Also had downloaded DCS twice to get it working (wasting 2 days on the torrent system and used up all of my my download limit - I have only 60GB p/m) On my new Windows build, Windows update corrupted something, I spent days trying to resolve it, but so I had to rebuild again yesterday. I used up a deactivation getting UH-1H off it. I didn't want to torrent all the DCS program files (wait again for hours/days) and purchase another $25 data block from my ISP for the privilege to reinstall this game... so I copied the Program File Eagle Dynamics folder and the User Saved Data folder from my old drive. I can run the game, the old settings I used work, missions load up etc. I renamed my USB ID device numbers in the lua filenames so I could use these profiles again. (I did try exporting them but it only exported ONE Button at time, so gave up on that) I have re-activated my UH-1H module again The problem now is the sound does not work. DCS does not even show up as a running application in the sound mixer when the program is running. It should be there, but it isn't. (Pictured) Is there something that would cause the sound to not work from copying the Program Files directory? I tried ignoring the Saved Data Files and just copied the files in the Program Files directory (vanilla install so to speak), still there is no sound. JasonJ Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) Thanks BIGNEWY for jumping in. NB I had to rename dcs.log to dcs.log.txt in order to upload it here. I had this hardware configuration working okay until I re-installed. ie: Using HDMI cable from GPU output to monitor with speakers. Just after posting before I did try to use the speakers output instead from the motherboard. Rebooted & still no sound. Back on HDMI output at this moment during the log generation. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 2, 2016 ED Team Posted November 2, 2016 no worries happy to help just checking you have your samsung nvidia high definition audio set as primary and not your realtek driver. is this intentional? also the realtek driver is an older 8/12/2011 one, try updating that first see if it makes a diference Forum rules - DCS Crashing? JasonJ Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) I use the Samsung Nvidia High Definition audio set to primary intentionally. I use the HDMI cable from my GPU directly to my Samsung monitor (TV). This way my sound goes off when my monitor goes off. Useful for reason do do with amplifier setup, TV media center, more convenient etc. I tried just basic speaker output (on board motherboard sound). Still saw that error "Can't start XAudio2." I cannot use the Realtek Digiatal output at all. Only the Speakers Output works and Samsung Nvidia works for sound - (pictured audio devices) I don't have any amplifier with optical input so cannot use Realtek optical Output either. I had this all working okay on my previous build which had no updates applied to it (except x64 SP1) and Windows was only a few days old. Some Update somewhere broke my Media Center codecs so this is the reason I reinstalled Windows again yesterday. The only difference here is I just copied the installed files over to the new Windows build. I got to thinking....... I thought maybe something is missing now since I didn't use the nomal DCS installer...... IDK....... just trying anything here. Anyway I installed Dx9 (directx_Jun2010_redist.exe) and the then damn sound started working in DCS.... can't believe it.. dcs.log 0000.559 INFO SOUND: loaded 1096 sdefs from "sounds\sdef" 00000.593 INFO SOUND: Using driver: xaudio27 00000.598 INFO SOUND: XAudio2: Using device ID:'{0.0.0.00000000}.{f9d8b078-df4e-401a-851c-2cb71c6f72b3}' Name:'SAMSUNG-4 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)', channels: 2 00000.638 INFO SOUND: XAudio2: channel layout: Headphones/Stereo 00000.639 INFO SOUND: Using SSE FTZ/DAZ mode. JasonJ Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 (edited) Yeah so installing DX9 2010 fixed it. You would think that installing Windows and the latest Graphics drivers for my 680GTX GPU would install everything it needs. Not so it seems. edit: thanks for putting Resolved into Thread Title. I forgot to do that Edited November 2, 2016 by JasonJ 1 Sim Rig || Pics 2010 | PC 2019 || 8600K @ 4.8GHz | RTX2080ti OC | 32GB RAM @3000 | 500GB SSD | Win10 64bit | PC 2010 || 2600K @ 3.4GHz | Zotac GTX680 | 8GB RAM | Win7 64bit Ultimate SP1 | Cockpit || Joystick: T.16000M | Pedals: Logitech G25 | Throttle & Collective: Logitech Attack3 Modded | Button Box: G25 Shifter | Cockpit || HP Reverb VR | Custom Frame & Seat | 3x Bass Shaker | 2:1 Game Sound | 2x Rear Head Rest Speakers Comms/Music |
