I've been having an issue with some campaigns I've downloaded from the DCS website where the radio messages to my wingmen or flight are blacked out. I can hear them transmit to me, but I cannot send to them as all the menus on the UHF are blacked out. I've doubled checked in the mission builder and my UHF freq is the same as my wingmen. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

The DCS World setting is what he was referring to. The setting will black out any channels that you wouldn't be capable of communicating on with the radios configured as they are currently.

Turns out that didn't work. The wingmen stuff is highlighted now but won't respond. I remade the mission by deleting the wingman, saving and flying the mission, then re creating the wingman and now he responds...

I also looked at the LUA files and both have the same variable name for the the frequency. Any idea if this if this is an old .miz file something might have changed throughout the versions?

But, if I'm correct, if you turn off Easy Comms, you have to tune the radio's manually... so in that case the option would turn black if not selected the right frequency...

So, by keeping it on, the radios tune to the correct frequency if the option in the radio menu is selected, i.e. "ATC", in that case the correct radio tunes to the frequency of the ATC on the choosen airfield...

Correct?

So, how can turning Easy Comms off, correct the OP's problem?

Are you 1.5.5? It introduced a bunch of AI bugs, some wingmen related. You might want to revert to 1.5.4 and try on that version.

Easy Comms has a history of causing all kind of problems with communications in scripted missions.

Agree with that, anyhow.

What frequency to talk to wingmen? I know ATC and AWACS...no problems there.

You can find it in Mission editor, and Mission planer, in the right panel next to your tail number, callsign etc

@Gliptal...you seem to be a great resource; I'm about to try your [A-10C][sP] Warthog Proficiency mission set. Look forward to it.

Regarding the 'Radio Msg Blacked Out' is there way to alter the text color via LUA? I have some eye issues often affected by color contrast and would like to try changing the text color to find a good personalized match. Age has not been easy :)
