Hi.

New to VR , and just got the Rift DK2 from a friend for some time.

I have many questions and I'm trying to learn form this forum...

Is there a way to adjust the head angle movement in Real life versus in VR? like in Track IR?

i.e. when I have to look backwards, in Track IR I can adjust it that 10 degrees of my head movement - would translate into 180 degrees in game...(guess you all know what I mean...)

with the VR I really have to look back. while it is very nice in the beginning, after a while of dogfight you can get your neck really strained...

Thanks!

NO,

1:1 Tracking Ratio is a requirement for VR to Avoid Motion Sickness.

doright started a thread about this in the DCS wishlist thread found here.

Apparently there is a sim Aces High 3 that allows you to set a new angle as your view.

I.E. 45 degrees, 90 degrees? 90 that would be weird.

This sounds a little disorientating? Still like to give it a go to see what its like and to see if it would make you sick.

A workaround would be to use more snap views.

Enable User Snap Views, and set Custom Snap Views.

Now you sort of get an idea just how bad this would be in a real jet dog fighting, except you then also need to add in the Gs pulled!

+1 to what's been said before.

Anything but 1:1 head movement in VR would be counterproductive.

The fact that you see what you expect to see, when you move your head, in the virtual world is what makes VR so real and immersive. It also makes it much easier to maintain situational awereness because your mind remembers in which direction you looked when you saw the bandit.

Yes, combat VR flying has become a much more physical exercise than before.

I know a few guys, they kinda just mounted the HOTAS to the arms of their chair,

When they wanna check 6, they just kick the floor and make the chair spin 180°

Different lazy reason for a pit build right there I think. Bit hard to incorporate into a 6dof platform as well tho.:)

The design below would allow you to incorporate the rudder pedals too! Make sure you setup some sort of electronic stop at 180 tho.
