Pilotasso Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I remember them, scooter.....ok what about Voltron???BEST CARTOON EVER!!! Wasnt that a sci fi cartoon where they flew giant robots with animal shapes to save the princess in every episode? I found those cartoons a bit weird. I preferred "Saber Riders", "star blazers", "seven cities of gold" and "Once upon a time up there". Some of you in the americas might not know about the last 2 animated series mentioned. One was about a sci fi alternative historical plot of pre-colombian civilazation origins, and the other was about space exploration in distant future, produced in japan and europe repectively. .
hitman Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 "seven cities of gold" I think they played that on Nickelodeon. After 25 years I still hate that cable tv station.
Pilotasso Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I think they played that on Nickelodeon. After 25 years I still hate that cable tv station. why was that? It had some rather interesting technological sci-fi concepts. Pretty advanced for early 80's. Soundtracks were also above average. (the top 2 pictures show concepts for a hydrogen cold fusion reactor, I only realized that nearly 15 years later, when I read about the technology) I liked G-force as well (it changed name a few seasons later and lost quality), plenty of snazzy aeronautical concepts and action scenes for kids. Cartoons that I realy hated as a kid were, well forgive me cali: Voltron ( ) He-man, G.I. Joe. there were a few other hi profile cartoons I loathed out of my guts but being ashamed of even mentioning them I wont even tell wich were. I would watch cartoons to this date if they didnt suck so badly, its an interesting art when the content is right. They dont make them like they used to. Thats a shame. .
Pilotasso Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Damn, I must be old. We used to watch Roadrunner, Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes. Aw man, I utterly loved those! Didnt mention them because were not inserted on the theme we were talking about. I also nearly laughed my head off with Hanna Barbera's "wacky races". I'm planning buying the entire DVD collection of these cartoons someday. The Authors must had had decades of fun making those. Some of the gags and sketches are not entirely understandable and somewhat advanced for kids anyway. Some cliches taken out of real life realy come out in those cartoons with gut busting humour. Maybe my kids in the future will learn to watch quality cartoon shows, not the trash we see today. .

I always hated Nickelodeon. It just always seemed stupid to me. You dissin' He-Man?!?! Yeah I agree todays cartoons just suck. Have you watched that one cartoon on cartoon network of the super fastfoods? Poorly drawn bullshiat. Ill stick to Family Guy. Whatever happened to the Looney Toons?! Animaniacs and um...Ill stFu right now.
Pilotasso Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Todays cartoons have dubious quality, not only use cheap and badly made animation, but their content are sometimes downright bad. Yeah Nikelodeon produced many of those with charracters posing naked and vomiting hairballs and other excressions, awfull dialogs and "culture" the kind of wich you dont want your kids to be used to. But any of the series I mentioned were already arround for years way way before Nikelodeon word was even known. Because the channel bough them to exibit them shouldnt destroy what they realy are. You dissin' He-Man?!?! I loved the animation quality specialy of the women, but I hated the main character. Seemed straight out of a ghey bar. :D I was too small then, but He-man always seemed "fishy" to me back then anyway. :D I used to watch another series of the same producer "flash gordon" remenber that? Some of the last cartoons I remenber watching integraly were "thundercats" in late 80's. "the Simpsons" stand today as the only exception to this. It still airs these days, And I watch them even though I skip many of the episodes due to online flying time :) .
