Quick question.

When I slew my antenna up and down is there any indication inside the radar showing the hight it is currently scanning?

Right of the TDC there are small numbers indicating bottom and top of the cone related to t your altitude on the TDC position. Also a switch on the radar panel if fliped to "z" the same numbers will show the center of the cone.

So I take my current altitude and substract/add it from the 2 numbers shown next to the TDC?

I might be wrong here but I believe yes. As it shows negative numbers sometimes so I assume for example -5 is your alt -500 feet.

Again I m not sure, this is how I use it. It is not really explained on the manual or anywhere else I could find.

What it would mean is the scan zone indicated by the two or single numbers to the right of the tdc is relative to the range at which your radar is set to

According to me -5 means you are scanning 500 feet BELOW ground level, so it is use less.

To check it, just keep the angle, and reduce your altitude: you'll see see value will decrease, so you are scanning more under the ground.

So, you should never scan with a negative value, it is just useless.

Not useless necessarily if you are in say 80nm scan seaching between 8k and 16k you get a call for bandit at 60nm at 3k well you can either narrow the altitude scan or simply drag your cursor to 60nm and move the antenna. Which would probably give you a negative altitude number but the radar is seaching at 60 at 3k.
