Hey guys, I am pretty new to DCS, about 40 hours in now on the FW190 module, 10 on the P51 5 on the SU27 and 8 or so on the 109. My question is mostly to do with the 190 but partially with the 109 and P51 as well. Basically my issue is when performing a horizontal turn with the 190 generally at around 300-350kph ias I am spinning right out of control violently, this is also present on the 109, however when I attempt this is the P51 it does not happen, it will just turn and turn and turn. What am I doing wrong? If this is simply an issue with the two German planes what is it in the design that causes this? Thank you. I can not even count how many times this happened just as I get an enemy in my sights.

This shouldnt happen on the Bf109 because this fighter can take very small turns, without getting out of controll. Even smaller than the P51 if my memory is correct. Things may change if you have an additional tank loaded of maybe a bomb or somthing. But it should work if you give maximal thrust plus MW50 plus opened coolers plus slightly extended flaps about 10 degrees.

The FW190 is something complete different. Avoid close dog fights, particularly with flat turns. The strength of the 190 is its speed and its climb rate. So if you were hunted by an enemy, get up in the sky with max thrust. The enemy cant follow you and will break away. Then you make a wide turn and try to get above him. Wait for the right moment and than get down on him. At this moment I also use flaps level 1 sometimes.

Imagine the Bf is a gamecock and the FW is a kestrel.

Check your controls just in case, axis config, and check you don't have the auto rudder option actvated, they are independent for every module. P-51 does spin definitely, and she's not easy whatsoever in regards of turning in the edge. On the other hand, 109 doesn't spin very violently usually, we discussed indeed not long ago about how you can stall her and get to the ground without spinning at all.

Anyway, of course you have to be easy at the controls with anyone of them, if you move the controls in a combat break and get into a spin you obviously went too far with the stick. Change your axis config, or get used to it through practice, there's no much more option. Well, there's one more, get a better Joystick if your current one is not great, that helps also.

P51D spins, although it is realy easy to get out if. 190 IRL was known for its abrupt and vicious stall. I have yet to see the 109 spin in DCS after last patches. But few of them tumbled. Do u have the latest version of DCS?
